Our week end started when we got up on friday morning.. weather was beautiful. went down to the river and pumped some blood worm and prawn. put the little rods out and got few small steenies and a small cob.
we stayed right accros the road from the river (next to the lodge). On friday night after a coulpe of heavy handed spices. We thought we would try our luck in the river with the big rod, we were about 100m from the river and on top of a steep ebankment, This didnt stop Spice captain and his tipsy side kick.. we walked down to the river threw out a big chokka bait and walked back, up the embankment and put the rod in holder next to our braai. We were joking around with the "what if" stories..when all of a sudden zzzzz the rod was pulled right down.. holy cow!!I struck.. on!!!! mangaged to slide down the embakment.. across the road and over the rocks, where i landed a big blue ray... Beeeeaaaauuutiful.
Anyway next morning we walked down the witsand beach found a shimmering spot and in went the rods... so much action, mostly elf bites.. when all of a sudden boom boom my rod went down and thats when i got the cob. measured 82cm and we weighed it there, was 5kg.. pic does not do it justice.
My fishing buddy black moon (cracker master) got a elf of 1kg and i got a rock cod of 1.6kg. also threw out a big blob bait and my rod got floored, had some beast on before he cut me off... i flew and landed on @#$%..
Blackmoons wife also got a 2kg grunter in the river.
All in all, Elvis was missed but a great week end.
