hi  buddy....lived in toti 4..... 2 years miss the stumpies.did extremely well at night fishing in front of the spur ...sept ....october months no fancy baits....streight forward sard belly and sard head. use a double slice of foam cup in the belly just as u would with a foam bait presentation. the foam is much thinner and will not split the belly open at the rib cage end. use a 4 o hook...dhaihitsi with 1mm lie ...deep sea line because thre are some big bush bream arround that time of the year.sealice  is also good but ay the sard  out perfomed the natural by far.u nomaly can find a stumpy arround alll year much depends apon stable conditions...a 2 day light north easterly is good 4 this area.park in front of the spur and walk down the steps down the side of the waterslides...info from ex compo angler....ncau...keen 2 join this one but idont know how...cheers,,,pierre.

thanks reefman......i stopped fishing compo aprox 6 years ago.....wife had triplets....3 bush bream'" onetime''' i'm looking 4 something social....to do......a good 10 years ago i tackled the etekweni recreation dept concerning the fishing on the beachfront pier's. many fishing fellas aproached them 2 no avail simply because there aproach was incorrect .....rowdy and abusive at times.one thing i've learnt about tackling problems is to find a solution first and it must b one that the opposition has no answer to and its fair to all user groups. my simple solution to this problem was when the wave action is such that conditons are favourable to surfing....then let the surfers do there thing...when the conditions are ideal 4 fishing then let the anglers doooo there thing...... if u know the beachfront well... during a westerly wind this area becomes like midmar dam...flat......and will only pick up  after 3 days fresh west... a buster can do the worst over night.... but can also correct this  area depending on how long the easterly beasterly blows.......i've spent many hours in this area  studying these conditions.....caught some realy good fish as well .......prodicals galore......biggest 20 kg...on the button.feeding march ....april months........anyway  thanks 4 the welcome . i've a very interesting story 2 tell about the fishing licence implementation which i feel i had a huge part to play in.... but the entire proposal is not being practised the way it was suggested 2 b the first person i aproached was barry warheim.....basil's he said" great idea go ahead".   and i did......... any one want to here what the actual proposal was......catch u all later....cheers...KILLERFISH.......

Shad Place is quite a popular spot in Toti.........!

I used to fish there often when I lived in Durb's, prefer fishing there a night though.....!

well another day closer to pension.........great.......lets  go. as i was saying b4...about this fishing licence thing ......im realy sorry :( that i actualy thought this entire thing up.I think my main motivation was conservation and secondly eish those anglers who think they own the sea.......mess the shore line......and go fishing 2 make sure that if they have spoilt someones day....its been a goood day with  5 bags of shad in the bush!...it just irritates the hell out of me.The ENTIRE proposal was about 6 pages long, so i"m going to b very brief and 2 the point .I REALY FELT THAT THIS SYSTEM WOULD b fair 2 all,even the shad....

BASED ON THE FOLLOWING:::H

It is impossible too patrol our rugged coastline with effectives....ratio of anglers vs those who are caught is very small.

The litter offenders need 2 be delt with.

Those that CAUSE HARM  to any sea living creature[ other than by error] should be delt with....eg. small fish being left to dry in the sun.

SO  ::eek:op:::tele LETS ALL pay a ''fine''and use this finance for assisting conservation practices for development of fish habitat, for improving our estuary's[conditions]for the development of angling......the system must be transparent and available to all anglers.....asto what OUR MONEY was been spent on.

THE SYSTEM:

ID with photo and contact details[the same as our present]....slightly more water resistant.

1.any offender will have his/her licence confiscated.

2.To gain your licence back u pay your fine you re apply for your licence @ least six weeks

3.If u lose your licence u can apply 4 a temp....half price.

4.That all ANGLERS will be listed on a computer.

EISH! I MUST go  my :mermneeds attention the trips R!   :madt and i'm in need of

:sos::sos:

I'M sure many of u will enjoy this sooo...go for a throw catch a fish or 6........

see  u lat...er........killer fish!

You're supposing that there is a reliable computer system to hold all these records and that there is a knowledgable person(s) keeping this system up to date, and that there is a knowledgeable person that is able to extract the data when and as required, and that....... arghh I give up!

Hi Nunu,

Send me a PM with whatever you want to know and I will be glad to help - I don't  mind showing you some spots this coming weekend either as I am hoping to fish the entire weekend, especially because of all the sardine activity down here :)

Regards,

-O

I was impressed with the water at nYoni rocks on yesterday,Sunday, no pulls though, even with the sards passing all day!

I am fishing a comp on Sat 23rd. (Toti to Scottburgh), so I was thinking Toti again.

Can you help with best spot for this coming weekend in Toti area! Hows Chain Rocks?

Hey Mick,

I have always had good sessions at Chain (never blanked there) but as of late security is a big concern - it's been bad there for the last couple of years but it seems that the crooks are now in full force to exploit the isolation of the spot :(.

I just got back from Warner southside - 2 stumpies and a snoek that came out, all returned. This spot however is as fickle as our exchange rate :)

Winkel has been dead as a doornail, nothing of note coming out. Inyoni has been a bit weird too I share your sentiment, the water looks good but the fish seem to be on a sebaticle. One small snoek came out this afternoon - caught on spoon.

Will let you know how the fishing pans out for the rest of the week in Toti, hopefully that will help in deciding on a good spot to focus on for the competition.

Hi Mick,

We fished Warners on Sunday in the mad sard rush as the pockets came through and a Prodical of about 30kg came out at moth hall (south of Warners) and some nice kingies to the right of the pool, the netters have taken about 8 good nets both sides of Warners and I reckon the winter diamonds should be in this area. If you are fishing at night there are always greys around and they come on as soon as it gets dark. I usually get live caras in the gully left of the pool as the shad seem to have dissapeared. Liveys are the best bet but we have been getting good fish on an inside out mackerel. TO THE GUYS WHO DID CATCH THESE FISH ON SUNDAY WELL DONE ALL WERE RELEASED. To the spearo that was sitting off the front of Warners, you shot kingfish that had a second lease on life and may you get an infected rash.

Tight lines
