Glysinker op Braid hooflyn?

Goeiedag hengel vriende.

Assuming you are chasing eds because of the rig you are using.

If you really need a full sliding sinker.....Use a bit of Mono at the front of your braid leader, about 1.5m, Back to back fig 8 or Uni knot. That way you have plenty opportunity for the sinker to slide. I wouldn't let the swivel slide on the braid, it burns off too easily. I doubt you will need more slide action than that.

Best advice I would give though is just use a limited slide trace and make the limited slide section a metre long, rather than a short 20-50cm, same as above advice but you can pre-tie those traces and not need to redo the mono to braid knot every time you break off.

Tight lines!

Hello oubaas hows it going... I have 3 kids who fish with my smaller grinders and braid for small ineds and eds. Even on a fixed trace i find that if you fish braid to the swivel you get more tangles. So simple solution is for smaller rods i have a 50cm leader for the 12ft and up rods i have 1m leader of mono. None of them are trying for world record casts and to help them with learning to cast they simply reel up till the leader knot is about 5cm below the front eye of the rod, and viola the length of the drop to the sinker is perfect for casting. 2 birds with one stone. No tangles, some mono for the sinker to slide on, if you fish a pretty stiff drag the sinker will pop up before the fish pulls past your leader knot. Alternatively limited slide as Craig says, works a charm and off the beach you can now use the top swivel for another hooktrace, Henning's famous vaaldam RASSPL trace, chokka bottom prawn top.

Lekka bru! its going, lets leave it at that!

Same same for me, for the Galjoen derby I fished with no leader, 40lb braid with a 1m piece of Maxima 0.65 to which I tied my trace. worked perfectly! braid to mono knot did not need to go through the eyes. Casts like a dream and very accurate..... I found the rocks every time! LOL!!!!

I use a reasonably large swivel sliding up and down the full main line with a very short piece of mono onto my running sinker. Works well
