i've seen the guys at benches use it to catch shad , apparently fish are attracted to light thats why fishing off the piers with lights are good, never used it myself but would like to hear from the guys who have.

Apparently they are lethal, planning to use them next trip. Some guys swear by them. You just shove it down the fish's (bait) throat. A story of guys using them in Angola where Bronzies are fighting for the bait very close in to shore - literally a few metres away in the gully. The bait is cast in right close and all they do is watch the glowstick in the water - as soon as it disappears they know it has been swallowed and then they hit!!

Well i have tried it at night when sliding a big bonny or a whole chokka.What i do is make a small whole in the chokka and then use a medium sized glow light and slip it into the chokka.The chokka really comes alive makes the whole thing more attraactive at night.
With the bonny i use a skirt verry shinny one silver red et.. use cotton to tie the glow stick onto the shkirt and then attch my slide trace this also just adds some sprark at night.I have some success with the bonny hooked into a few small skates and grey sharks.
With regards to smaller baits i say try anything once you'll never know a small chokka properly tenderised and what you do is attach the glow stick to the floatation that you have on your hook and the wrap the tenderised chokka onto the gow stick and floatation.This really does ad a whole new dimention to the chokka.

Well its difficult to make assumptions on what light attrct fish or frighten them off.What i say is that i know for the inedibles ie.sharks and rays it makes them even more inquisitive about the bait.When it comes to shady feeders like the grunter then yes stay away from the lights.
With regards to the full moon well i dont think tat is true.That is the light of the moon doesnt have much to do with the fish biting,I think its more a case of the gravitational pull bythe full moon and the currents etc..so it would be more like the effects of a full moon effecting the fish not really the light generated by the full moon.
With regards to the shad being caught by means of a glow light well in my opinion i dont think it is the light that help the shad bite.The gow light actually acts like a bung or float thats all if you go to New Pier the fisherman their will choon you junk about using the light they believe that the shad eventually become trained to only feeding on the light.When you go to bench pier it is the other way aroud they use it not as a light but because they say that the glow stick actually keep the shad at a certain level in the water ie with the regulay shad bung or cork the bait cannot sink slowly,but with the light the bait does sink eventually.So i guess the big red and white corks keep the bait to high up in the water.
This is some of the observations i did when fishing on those piers.

Effective (for shark fishing at least) during the day too!
Have witnessed, on north pier, at least 8 club fisherman, all with bonito slide baits, sit all afternoon, and the only pull of the session at about 3.30pm, was on a bait with a rubber skirt and glow stick attached above it. His line was out for over half an hour, in the middle of all the other lines (right next to mine!) and this blacktip sought his bait out after having to pass by several others!

it attracks most predatory fish, eish that glow just looks so enticing to fish especially on a chokka bait
