Gill Net - found in Swartvlei Lake

A gill net was found/noticed by a local Sedgefielder - he noticed white 'floats' on the water. Upon closer inspection the white floats were found to be connected to a gill net.

Good news is that the net was subsequently pulled out the water by a few local boy's.

Speculation that Nature Conservation and Parks Board personnel may be involved in this form of illegal fishing.

'Not choosing sides here, but I know the local Parks Board guys fairly well and I can only doubt that they would venture into this sort of criminal activity.

A case in point is borne out by them bringing a net found around (Groenvlei) and speculated to be laid out by a well-known and quite aggressive poacher - he previously fired some shots at the officials in question - for some assistance in cutting some crabs from the net.

That does not strike me to be the behaviour of guys who would want to get involved in shenanigans, otherwise they surely would have wanted to keep the net intact, etc.?

May not be officials/officers of the above - may well be staff?
