I Have had enough of our local suppliers and am having "RANT" today
My Garmin Fishfinder got water in it -"Partially" my fault as I accidently blasted it with the HP washer. I hasten to add that it still works No Problems.
I openend it up just to dry it out before damage is caused by moisture.
In the process of opening the casing I broke a plastic retaining nut where the fishfinder plugs in that retains the the cable in a stable and steady spot.
I send them an e-mail requesting if they could please post me a replacement nut (I mean really what does one of these cost - 50c.)
Anyways I will post the reply I get from them a bit further down.
They say I need to take it to an agent and pay for it to be sent in for a service - R250 to replace a plastic nut - come on guys this is ridiculous. I was happy to pay R50 for the part and postage.
They also mentioned I could bring it to their offices in North Riding and if it was out of Warranty I would have to pay a service fee. What does it cost me to go during office hours to JHB in terms of Petrol Time and money from Pretoria and have to pay a service fee atop this all...... Sorry gent not acceptable.
So if anyone has an old broke Garmin I am looking for a Plastic nut. Garmin SA did not even have the decency to comeback to me after the intial e-mail and response...
Sorry I see there are Terms attached to the bottom of their e-mail so I cannot publish the e-mail. E-mail sent early June 2009
I will send them the link anyway's.
Anyone else had similar experince's with GARMIN SA
