I have always loved a beautiful lawn and always wanted to plant my own. so after acquiring my 1st property about 4 years back i could not wait to get my hands dirty. I had know experience and never even knew where to begin. After visiting stodels and a few other places and realising that i will have to fork out 80sqm for buffalo grass ( more durable than kikui, bereau etc)i thought why not get my own and plant it. I lived behind a river and took a walk one day to find that there were some nice 'strings' that i could use so armed with a fork and a black bag i took a few out.
The same day i started laying them but before i did this i layed a piece of plastic +- 50cm down and then the soil. once they were layed i added some Lan and compost and watered every single day for about 3-4 months. This was in November which is normally the best time. about a year later i ended up with this lawn...
attach are pics..... I then moved house about 8 months ago and started with my 'new lawn' ( which is still under construction, lol) .. i did not want to take a year before seeing result's and opted for roll on lawn at R45sqm. well's u pay for quality and this was certainly not the best. after alot of watering , chemicals etc weeding, i am almost where i want it to be.... I have a beautiful avo tree and a birds of paradise which will bloom in winter. The avo as per the owner only ever gave fruit twice in 50 years however it bore fruit twice since i moved in... We did some graphting so hopefully this season it will bloom! Enjoy the pics
