Galjoen Sizes.Wonder how many were caught +40cm this season?

Marthin's post 'Biggest Galjoen For The Season' reveals 19 fish,44cm and over.Some nice fish there,Congrats to anglers.

But  overall,it appears there's been a shortage of Gallies in +40cm category as opposed to last season.

So,we've got the 19 fish,44cm & bigger,and wonder how many other Gallies above 40cm were landed?

There are tons of juvenile fish in Betty's but few ever grow to a decent size. You only have to see the bags full of juvenile fish guy from Kleinmond take from Betty's and surrounding areas to make some conclusions as to why there aren't many bigger fish around.

Last year while fishing in Betty's a guy named Christie from Kleinmond came past with a bag of 9 juvenile fish. I heard from another local that he had a bag of 15 two weeks before. I've fished the hole where he catches them a few times and about 1 in 10 fish that come out there are size. Most are about 30cm.

There are lots of guys in Kleinmond who put nothing back and won't stop fishing until there time is up. While fishing next to some, I've been told that I don't put fish back. If I don't want a fish, I have to give it to them. It leaves a bad taste in the mouth and puts me off of fishing the area.

walt there were a lot of just forties that weren't put on the list or that i took off... it was going to be just a top 5, then a top 10 now it's a top 20 and there a couple missing.

What i can say compared to last year's common 40-55 sizers coming out or rather a couple of 40ies out the same hole this year it's plenty undersize with one Fair one in between.

i only got 2, 41cm and 42 BUT that was at the start of the season. since then it was a bad bad bad season

It's not been great. Since the monster I caught featuring in Marthin's list, I have blanked loads with the odd dassie in between.

Went to broken road last night...BARBEL...:(

had a terrible season myself, around 50 fish for the season with only a handful over 40cm, and most of the fish i caught in the first month of the season!!

so far me - only 11 galjoen the whole season and only one of size 36cm.Worst Gallie year i have ever had - not 1 single gallie at the reserve the whole year (only 3 attempts though)!
