Galjoen on dropshot

Hi guys. Winter has passed now (unfortunately I didnt really have time to fish during it) and I've heard about nice catches that were made on dropshot, so I started wondering about galjoen which, alot of people target during winter months. As you all probably know the best bait for galjoen is red bait, and it then makes sense that the most catches would be produced off it. What I'd like to know is if anayone that is a keen drop-shotter has had much succes targeting them on dropshot. I'd like to try that next time winter comes around and It'd be nice if you guys would help me out on where, when, hooksizes etc. and what lures would give the best results (I fish St Francis but anaywhere in the Eastern Cape would still be acceptable). Hope to hear from you guys.

Thanks in advance.(I know barely anaything about Galjoen cause I've never targeted them so every tip helps even if its not related to the dropshot method.)

take your dropshot rod, rig a ball sinker and a 1/0 circle hook with vrot vrot VROT redbait and cast it where it looks like youre sure to lose your trace in the rocks where the water is rough and foamy

Hi Gummy. I had a friend once who caught a Galjoen on a piece of silver paper from his cigarette packet loosely wrapped around a hook and allowed to wash in the "tub". I would say fish small grubs weightless. I might even have a go at this method myself!!

Thanks Aqua I'll be sure to try that next time. Anay1 ever catch a galjoen on lure?
it's been done, I know on the west coast (Lamberts Bay) the guys catch them regularly on gulp camo worm.

If you just wanna catch a(ny) galjoen, you'll be wasting your time trying to get one to eat a lure.

Great idea dorado75. Lol when you try that silver paper thing, tell me what happened. Meanwhile I'll stick with the grubs! ;)
guys in dbn use ciggie paper and also aluminium foil when shad are in a feeding frenzy... i guess resembles a spoon.
