For some time now, a friend is telling me about his legendary annual trips to Mozambique.

A few weeks ago a spot opened on this team and I am the lucky one to get to go to the Mozambique coast on November 8th.::jest::S::happyd:::rm::prty:

We will be staying at Club 15 on Bartholomeu Dias Point, by the Bartholomeu Bay Delta, about 85 Km north of Vilanculos.

Here we will be able to access the delta’s rich wild life with kayaks for some amazing bird and wild life drives, photography and just relaxing in the sun, some tall drinks with umbrellas and long lazy afternoons of relaxing.

:::SMmmm…..while we are there, maybe we just might find some time to go fishin a bit…..:fishn

Ps. Watch this space for updates.

I had the opportunity to do a trip to the same spot a few years ago, and all I can say is everything about it was awesome, We ate seafood every single night of our 14 day stay, and caught lots of fish. “So much you actually get tired of fishing, and that does not happen a lot”

Enjoy and post some pics

Its a beautiful part of the world we just love it there.

Seafood was not so abundant in December but the fishing was good. There lurks some big monsters in the lagoon, be sure to buy or catch fresh squid/lula and just before dawn do drifts over the deep channel just in front of the BD pub and ................. HOLD TIGHT

If you don't go out on the boats ask them to drop you on the ledge at Pansy Island at low tide bearing in mind they must fetch before high tide to do some R & S be warned heavy Tackle only there are big nunus that will cut you off in a blink of an eye. You can also get some Couta off the point early moring or later afternoon.

Enjoy the inshore boat fishing and out deep to 25 mile reef, its a long ride out but with blue clean water (SE must be blowing to insure clean water) its well worth it.

Tight lines
Green with envy

Hi Chaps,

back from Moz and what a trip. How many places can you assemble 15 experienced fisherman where you will hear on a daily basis, “What the hell is that”.

We set of from Pretoria in the small hours on Thursday, November 8[suP]th[/suP] and drove to Pafuri gate through the Northern parts of the Kruger Park to enter Moz in the afternoon. Our first overnight under the Mopanies in the Limpopo National park just more than a 100 km’s past the border where fires was lit and fishing plans discussed till early morning hours.

Friday, a slight overcast morning greeted us in the Fever tree forests and we drove on to Vilankulos, where we stayed over at Aguia Negra Beach-Lodge.

First thing, Saturday morning we drove on to Inhassoro, a 80 k drive north of Vilankulos and then onto the beach for a 30 K drive over beach, dodging frowning fisherman retrieving their drag nets and trying to get of the beach before high tide.

We arrive at Club 15, BD island around 10:00 and spent the rest of the day unpacking and preparing for the next morning.

Sunday morning around 06:00, 3 boats set of for hot fishing spots all over the big blue, with eager fisherman, (grinning like kids), aboard. All boats returned that afternoon with a variety of fish, but mostly King Mackerel, Queen Mackerel, Barracuda.

From here on it was pretty much the daily program. Some fisherman remained for surf fishing, kayak fishing or just taking a break and enjoying the scenery and local birds and wildlife in the surrounding mangroves.

The total variety of fish caught is difficult to determine as I think some were lost to the “What he hell is that” scenario. Here is as close a guess as I can manage.

Giant Trevally – (GT)

Yellowspotted Trevally

Bludger Trevally

Black Banded Trevally (Amber Jack)

The greatest feeling in the world. Riding out to new fishing grounds in the early morning on a calm ocean.
