What a great group of guys and what a trip.

Firstly let me say I have never walked so much in a such a short time on the surf b4 in my live,

When we arrived at vidal on friday we unpacked and headed for the surf, me with my 2 rods, rod stands, safari chiller, headlamps, cool drinks and my tackle bag containing every conceivable fishing requirement incl. about 20 6-8 oz sinkers - big mistake.

The howling wind made the +- 500 m walk from the cabin to the fishing spot seem like a couple of Km's.

I manage to get a wave garrick of about 35 cm but the wind was making fishing unberable so we decided to call it a day. Packed heavy and walking into a howling wind will teach you the folly of your ways. (the next outing my and Jace's tackle consistes of 2 rods 4 sinkers & hooks and bait)

On Saturday I managed to pick up a nice stumpie of about +- 4 kg (pic soon), Watching Volcom baiting, fishing and casting was just as rewarding as catching that stumpie.

During the first 2 days of fishing Jace had blanked, and on Saturday evening Volcom promised to put Jace onto a fish and behold on sunday in 3 casts Jace picked up 2 fish.

Finally to echo the sentiments of Daryl and Master - Reefman you are one of a kind and it was truly an honour to have met you and be in the same company and I am humbled by that experience.

Fishing was not great but the guys were fantastic.

Thanks to Daryl for instigating the trip, Jace for organising the Cabins and Mel for organising the gifts and to everyone else for a great time.

Hi Guys
Just to throw something in the ring....something was very special about this outing that has not been there in our past social comp ..was it because ...
1.o The comp aspect was removed...everyone knew they fished for fun...it was something Mel and I discussed when we decided for the lucky number draw rather than the first, second prize thing
2.0 Was it the presence of the GREATMAN ..Reefman
3.0 Was it the the fantastic knowledge base of one of youngest member..Volcom
4.0 Was it just the site..cape vidal

I am sure most of the guys there will agree it was special and the photos really dont show the spirit.

Howzit Gentlemen, what can i say, without sounding repetitive, but this was a great trip, and something that will live in memory for ages, and my kids will hear about...

It was an absolute pleasure meeting all the guys, although my personal fishing did not meet up to my expectations, the company and the laughs more than made up for it...

Volcom (Eugene), is building up to become a Sealine legend, if not already... It was amazing when on Sunday morning, when Eugene decided to give Kish"s Bazooka a run, how all the guys looked in amazement at his ability to punch a 7oz far into the blue yonder... Even more than that its his modesty that had a huge effect on most of the guys..Your knowledge is amazing..So to u Eugene, thanks man for a fishing/life lesson to remember....

Reefman, it was a pleasure to meet your acquaintance, and finally put a face to the name...

All the other guys, Nivi, Kish. Prashin, Ashan, Zaheer, Darryl, it was a blast....

To Jace and Imraan, thanks for being great sports, and trusting my judgement, i know that it was a bit skew, but another time, another place for the monster... And thanks for being great room mates....

I really look forward to the next one, and to meeting all the guys again...

Oh and lastly, a huge thanks to SEALINE, for giving us this opportunity to meet and fish together... So to Sealine BIG UP's....

Cheers

Hey Jace,

All the points u mention is what makes this social stand out.

I think socials are just that, don't make it a comp.
Mel had good Idea for future socials. Instead of lucky draws each member gets a printed or embroided shirt or cap etc. eg Sealine social - Cape vidal 21-23 july 2007.

@Khani - Congrats on the Stumpie!A fine fish!

Guys, you've said it all and i agree - brilliant trip!

I've had my fair share of disappointments on my own trips with regards to company - quite often i would plan a trip, beg a few guys(non-sealine) and at the last minute get let down.
Guys, your friendliness, willingness to help, kindness, down to earth personalities and sense of humour is what sets you appart!
I have finally found a bunch of guys who are as passionate & crazy about the sport as I am, if not more, and look forward to many more trips in the future.

Zaheer, I thought it looked even bigger when I first landed it, I even complained to Jace and Mel that the stumpie seemed to look smaller every time we looked at it.

Does anyone have the size to weight ratio manual.
I am keen to know the weight. The stumpie was 63 cm after being in the freezer overnight.

Veez

Measurement should be fork lenght and not total. You can subtract 2/3 cm from total to get fork - weight thus ±4,2 kgs.

Khani : well done - still a champ stumpie :clap12
