I have gone to water with a fly rod in hand allot! I have in about 50 trips manage to catch 2 things. my right ear and my left arm
Then last Saturday I talked about how I well stink at fly fishing. Now if you know don't know me, I am that kid that watched Robbin hood and for the next month I am Robbin hood. So I decided but hay put on sunglasses and go try again!

Now before I went out I decided to arm myself. I went to YouTube and watched about 6 hours worth of fly fishing videos and focused on cast, fly and retrieval.

Me and my friends went to a pond(cant call that small amount of water a dam) and I really had my doubts (I did take a first aid kit along cuz I was waiting for the inevitable new piercing.

Cast one bugger-up, cast two went better and then I remember the words " the most important thing is your rod tip must travel in a strait path"
I focused on that and Boom I got it right to cast a fly ( not far But It happened like I wanted it )

now I was just focused on my casting (even forgot I was fishing just practice the cast! Then out of the blue just as I was about to pick up the leader I got the fright of my life something actually took the fly! and I caught it (I do not know freshwater fish but a guy from a shop told me it is a blue gill) I was like a kid at Christmas!

I now watch as many videos as possible and started thinking, I now want to catch a Garrick on my fly setup(It will not be soon that I will be heading to saltwater) but I do not get any help in the internet

Now I have only caught Garric on Live bait and Chizzle nose plugs with fast retrieval



So after a long story My question How do I simulate a "harder" or chizzle nose plug with my fly setup? I am lost so any help with regards to fly fishing (even video links) will be much appreciated especially Estuary/ saltwater fly fishing

Also try the Crease fly, don't be shy to try a double hand strip, and retrieve he fly until its almost at your rod tip again, they sometimes hit it very late. Good luck.

the double hand strip, I do not quite get it, you use both hands to retrieve, but how do you hold the rod & reel? the leeries I've caught so fare even smaller ones are quite quick on the pull away! what if it swims with my kit I mean that is a big risk for me???

Put the rod under your arm, bend forward and retrieve the line with your left hand then right hand as fast as you can. Repeat the process.
