For the last 4 months an friend I have been targeting Giant Snakehead on artificial lures at the lake by my apartment here in Taiwan with EXTREMELY limited success... one juvenile and that is it! We are very limited as to where we can fish, and the areas we have access to are fished a lot. I have attributed our failure to over fishing and huge pressure on the fish in the area we have access to.
With all our failures we have turned our sites to Thailand where we will go and "learn" how to catch these amazing monsters! We will be attending a "9 day course" which includes guides, gear, food and all other essentials. We will live on board a floating house based on a wild lake which borders Burma and Thailand for the first 5 days. From there we will depart everyday to go target Giant Snakehead and Jungle Perch. I need to make it sound "educational" so that my better half wont have too many objections to me leaving her at home...
There after we will return to Bangkok and fish for Barramundi and Giant Mekong Catfish.
We leave today, but I will post a full report on my return and share as many photos with you guys as possible!
