Fishing in Mozambique

Shad Mad... what do you want to catch bru?
I've never been to Tofu, but Moz waters are very similar to Northern KZN as to species. The only difference is that the country hasn't been fished out...... yet! So whatever you were targetting in KZN, just do the same up in Moz - it will work.
Moz is reknown for it's size Kingfish... live shad/mullet is always good, but you need some solid tackle to stop one of these big ones - that means braid backing, a good reel and some high abrasion line - Kingies are dirty fighters and will do their best to reef you.
Very generally speaking, fishing is always best at dawn and dusk and usually better on an incoming tide.

Never been too Tofu but ventured further North to Pomene. Was in Moz last month at Beline.
From what i heard Tofo if a very sheltered area in terms of low lying reef...so the trick would be to wade out at low tide out to the reef and fish the drop off....just watch when the tide comes in...otherwise u will have to swim back.
Speak to the locals there, there is a spot where u fish (a mate of mine has been there) off ledges/high rocks with plugs and hook into big kingies...problem is they too big to land as u can't get to them.
Incidentley one of the guys in my crew got a couta of 12kg of the beach in Beline...so expect the unexpected and always have a big bait in the water!'
