Sedert 1969 toe ek nog bietjie jonger was het ons jaarliks Desembermaande op Vleesbaai gaan vakansie hou. Dan het my broer en ek saam met my pa gaan hengel vir mosselkraker. Nadat ek die huis verlaat het, het ek meestal daarna gedurende die Junie-Julie vakansies daar gaan hengel vir Galjoen hoofsaaklik.

Ek(ons) is redelik vertroud met die omstandighede op en om vleesbaai en het nog maar min op ander plekke gevang.

Die omgewing rondom Vleesbaai bied baie opsies ongeag die weer. Jy moet net die dag die regte plek kies.

Dit is harde werk.

Die goue reel is: As jy nie aas in die water het nie moet jy nie verwag om 'n vis te vang nie

Ek het darem ook net so pa soos oom, was nog in doeke toe vat hy my al water toe. Miskien sien ek vir oom hulle daar op Boggoms se strand kom Desember. Stywe Lyne

Dankie. As jy nog nie beter vang as jou pa nie is dit nie meer lank nie. Daai dag kom gouer as wat jy of jou pa besef. Geniet die tyd saam langs die viswater, dit sal jou nog jare lank bybly.

Ek sal eers weer Junie-Julie in daardie geweste kom maar kom vertel ons van julle vangste op Sealine.

Pieter, this thread you started was excellent! It really makes one happy to see the youngsters happy and enjoying what father enjoys too. Those are classic pics. My 3 year old daughter takes all my fishing stuff and puts it in her room when i go away to work for a month, all she can do is give me her Pienk stokkie and we must go fishing when im back, hopefully i can post some pics of her and her first fish too! Lovely post!

Use the opportunity while you have it. The time passes faster than you think. They grow up and leave the house to live a own life. Make sure you create memory builders while you have the time.

The past year I was alone and missed my fishing partner immensely.

I am sure however that there will be more opportunities in the future to enjoy fishing together.

As you mentioned the time passes so quickly, the one moment you must help them to hold the rod and the next they grow big and out catch you.
