Decent singles are expensive while trebles are more commercial. Also, there are a lot of anglers who believe a treble has 3 times the chance of hooking a fish. The guys who would be bothered enough to change hooks would be specific and would probably change a single too.

Definately agree with u

Its definately not a catch all the fish in the ocean lure !
But its a great lure for elf (with a slowish retrieve)

- The Onda has a very good action (just like Rapalas), not meant for fast retrieves and its a topwater lure, except if u let it sink and donate it to the closest reef.
- A poppers only action is displacing water, so slowish with pulls
-Plugs have no action, speed is the key, it must skip and jump on the water.
-Spoons, well u can get every shape imaginable, so depends.

Different lures need different retrieves, and different fish want different "speed" bait ...

I don't like the "painted onda ripoffs", I only use the real thing, and only use it to target ELF

Problem is, they have stopped making them. So nobody now has a choice and if you want one, the KF version is the best... Very good actually. And at R50 each who can complain?

I would also like to know which singles would the guys recommend. For the 23gr as well as the 35gr.

good singles on the 23g are the 2/0 daichi and the gamakatsu soi ring. Owner also pretty good. These hooks are offset, so straighten them with pliers (helps prevent the lure spinning - doesnt weaken the hook if done correctly) For the 35g, I would use the same hooks, but 4/0, or else the 5/0 Daichi Dura Lure which is already straight set and a really good hook!

These ondas do work. Shad respond well to the 23g, especially the sardine colour funny enough. However, dont forget the old iron candy SV spoon! chartreuse or glow. That's going to give any onda a run for the money!

@ DB, the reason why it "flutters on the way down is because of the flat belly. It wobbles. The big test is it must stay upright do to the low SG of the plastic and ballast weight low down.

They seem to work for me i caught all my shad on the pilchard onda this season and when i was in kenya got some realy nice size black tip kingfish on the gold one.

I use 6/0 black diachi hooks

A few things. I have 1 original Onde Onda left. Bought a new Onda and swam it in my pool. They don't compare!! I will not try to fish with the Onda. They do not come out of the same moulds. Whoever said that Kingfisher bought the moulds is talking nonsense. They used to be made my Maria in Japan.

The sardine onda CANES the dorado, kawwas and queenfish here in UAE. The rock cod here love the red and white fished with a slow twitch so they do work for me. That said tho I've yet to see a lure outfish the good 'ol needle nose plug here

Sorry - let me rephrase - I did notice it ws not too bad on a slow retrieve, but med to fast, was not impressed. Good to hear that some success is being had. Tight lines from now till eternity (for every angler!!)
