My guess is that trebles are cheaper.

I tried the onda today and got 9 shad, But the paint on the onda does not last at all. Is this a common problem.

Don't worry about it. It now has character! The action is what the fish are chasing, not the paint! With a clear body, it is impossible to put down any sort of primer, so the paint doesn't last.

Its a colored resin, the whole lure is molded

OK no Idea, but this was Onde KIG and now its only see through. I only open it this morning and it is definately not in the same nick anymore, actualy bad. This is the one that Kingfisher supply.

Yes, the original R130 one had a base colour in the resin with some painting. The R50 one is clear and painted.

Probably the best way to test any lure is sight casting. If you can see fish and cant catch them on anything and one lure works when everything in your box doesnt its a winner on the day. If it works repeatedly all the time (for 1 species) then its a real must have. I have The Onda in my arsenal it definitely has its day, but Ive outfished it with plain white nylon plugs on many occasions. The same goes for small tin spoons. To me its just another useful tool to catch certain species with. For cape yellowtail it sucks. If you pull it too fast it spins, if you go too slow they lose interest.

I bought four a few weekends ago, but released two of them - one at Sundays River and another at Redhouse.

Have not caught anything on the others yet, but the action looks deadly.

Definately agree with u

Its definately not a catch all the fish in the ocean lure !
But its a great lure for elf (with a slowish retrieve)

- The Onda has a very good action (just like Rapalas), not meant for fast retrieves and its a topwater lure, except if u let it sink and donate it to the closest reef.
- A poppers only action is displacing water, so slowish with pulls
-Plugs have no action, speed is the key, it must skip and jump on the water.
-Spoons, well u can get every shape imaginable, so depends.

Different lures need different retrieves, and different fish want different "speed" bait ...

I don't like the "painted onda ripoffs", I only use the real thing, and only use it to target ELF
