Welcome to Sealine,and a good first posting as this doesn't augur well.I contacted Meag at SASC last week to offer my services in any way possible as they've been wanting to use anglers to monitor certain issues,and would've probably done same with MCM,but still to contact them.Having been part of Naval Logistics Marine Vessel Design & Project Management myself,i can't undestand why SA Navy can't take over this division to monitor our coastline.They go out on excursions & have to keep their boats in seaworthy condition & have sent Bertie reed,etc,around the world,etc.But having said that,while i was in Naval Logistics Bureau,there was a Diving Division there which were abusing diving regulations & this was squashed as well.So,even that may not work.Scary stuff!

So, quite simply, the MCM can’t afford to run its own “purpose-built fishery and environmental protection vesselâ€. I wonder who did the original feasibility studies on this vessel? Schabir Shaik or Tony Yengeni? “The Baartman is crewed by contractors. Sources say the SA Navy was asked to tender to operate the ship on behalf of DEAT, but apparently returned an ‘absurdly high’ quote,†says Defence Web.
To add my 2 cents, when the contractors leave the port with MCM officials onboard. The crew contact the poachers and inform them of their movements.

The other day i went chokka fishing in Simonstown with my little duck, after catching a few i took a ride around into the basin to show my gf around, and there was the patrol boat, and one of the crew was fishing off the patrol boat and i saw him land a squid! Now is that not wrong????
