Reefman i personally use the following set ups: Plugging & Spooning is a custom GT Special by Assassin with a Trinidad 30 (some drag modifications) generally filled with Double X 40-60 pound line. The Seal point popper is the best plug but out there anything works! The jigging stick we used was a Shimano Beast Master with a Trinidad 50 filled with 100 pound Sufix performance braid. Drop shot sticks were Shimano Trevella's and then for the super light action a 9wt fly rod with a small KP or a tiny grinder. I fished a fair bit with a KP the first series but got smoked waaaaaaaaaaay to many times!

Whats your thinking in using Nylon for the popping...? The casting ability? Goes in the face of what the overseas guys all say and do...

man, yesterday I told my wife as soon as I have money we GOING THERE (was watching the show).
She said to do what, can u believe it ?
Quickly made a comeback and told that "walking encyclopedia" of a wife of mine (I Love Her don't worry), you can sit in the sun and I'll go fishing. And before she even asked I said there is running water and beds don't worry.
One of the things I HAVE TO DO before I ... you know what.

Hey Reefman, I prefer the machine reels to the big grinders, just a personal choice. But they seem to do the job and it is a little more sporting for me. i use a biminie (excuse the spelling) on the main line straight to a power swivel and then a 130/150 pound leader and all the plugs have power split rings! get smoked a good few times but that makes it even better!! Sorry for the late response been travelling again!
