Dropshot in the nursery

I have caught plenty garrick and kob on dropshot, but never a grunter. It drives me crazy to see them tailing by the dozens and not being able to entice a bite, they refuse the camo worm and smelt shrimp. Going to buy me some yellow curly tails then. Do you target them by sight fishing, or cast blindly??

Hi HP, I know what you mean about casting for hours at tailing fish!!!

Better to cast along the edge of the bank they are tailing on or look for water about 1-1.5 m deep close to the bank. On the rising and fallingtide this is where the fish will most likely be holding. The area where the fish are tailing is fery shallow and therefore the fish are very scittish. The lure must be bumped along the bottom very slowly and not be lifted more than 10cm off the bottom. The jerk shad I used had a clear body with light brown on top. Looks a lot like a swimming prawn in the water.
