) and jigged a mullet of about 2-2.5kg. Now if anyone has caught a mullet before, you should know that they can fight! My rod was basically 180 degrees, no lies. Landed it, released it, no problems with the rod or fish, but I did break the clicker on my, now dead, slade 2500 from fighting that mulletgerritp - No - as a rule of thumb you should set your drag at 20 - 30 % of the line rating - 20lb=5lb of drag but unless you are using a lever drag reel this is hard to do. The ideal line for that rod is up to 14lb, therefore you should not have more than 3-4 lbs max drag - bear in mind this is the theory of it - much can change in practice. The line rating on the rod is 6-14lb, does that mean i can set my drag on my reel between 6 and 14lb?
Seems these clickers are a problem on the Slade 2500. I have one that also brokeOff The Topic
I also broke the clicker on my Slade 2500 for no reason.
R140 for new spool and 3 months waiting time.....no thanks, rather get a new reel
Really? Shame. It put me off shimano a bit when mine broke. The slade can also be "finicky", like it sometimes took quite some effort to close the bail when turning the handle. Also when sand got into the handle knob, it was such a schlep to get it out: Take out cap, take out screw, take off handle, clean with ear bud, oil, clean, oil again, put back together only to find out you didnt get it all out! Meh, cummon, Im anal about maintainence but not that much!Dropshot Dude wrote:Seems these clickers are a problem on the Slade 2500. I have one that also brokeOff The Topic
