Howzit WalkersKiller, Thanks for the heads up.

My problem is that I have three daughters who want to go fishing with me, and not knowing the area very well, I am a bit worried about the places that i can take them with. Not to mention that I haven't been fishingin almost 7 years, due to an accident. nevertheless, I have seen on the site that Rietvallei and the dam Near Menlyn are not too bad, what are you thoughts?

No problem zkadir... Havent heard much about that area unfortunatley... If you are willing 2 spend 200 rand for a months fishing there is a great place in edenvale with plenty of kurper, bass, mirror carp and huge barbel... Let me know if you are interested and i will send u a private message with the owners fone number!

 hey man are you talking about dowerglen dam or another cos we going there on saturday and i would like to know wat type of fish are in there so i can get my feeding balls thanks

However, I have heard that fishing there at the Edenvale quarry isn't too good. All reports so far are drawing a blank. In any case we are going to give Homestead a try and perhaps Rietvlei NR. Will see what happens, I plan on going with a few other guys so it should be relatively safe.

it is but it is called dowerglen dam i think the quarry is the dam behind it we going there on saturday to see wat is happening

Zkadir i was talking about the quarry, the 200 rand entrance thingy :) ... A lot of people sAY THE FISHING IS BAD THERE... i DONT KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE PEOPLE WHO DO SAY THAT. iT IS THE MOST PRISTine body of water for 80 kilometers and the fishing is amazing there... We have caught a lot of bass, carp, barbel and kurper... You just need to put in the time. The bass grow up to 5 kgs the mirror carp up to 20 kgs and the barbel up to 30!!!! Not bad for a suburban area hey! The 1st pic u have there is dowergeln dam and the second is the quarry. I know the owner of the quarry well and i fish there all the time there are plenty of fish, its very good fishing!

well we went to the dam on saturday with only one fish to show for it 1.5kg barber there are alot of fish in the dam but they not eating we will try again at a later stage and see what happens if some has caught a fish ther please help and tell us wat is the best bait at this dam

Phoenix one of my friends cousins went 2 dowerglen last week and caught 10 barbel... He is a pro angler tho but ill talk to him asap to see what he was doing 2 catch!

thanks walkerskiller we used platies and had two runs one broke the line and my rod and the other came out but i need to know wat to use for carp there and kurper cos i got alot of barbel in my dam from 2.5 to 20kg and we catch between 10-15 on a day
