Does anybody have some tips for me on this venue? There is two rivers the Komati river and the Swartwater Spruit. In t!he river there is Smallscale yellows and in the dams trout. Have any body fished here or in the area? What flies, techniques etc. will work?

Hi guy's i will be going to this spot this weekend, anyone been here recently? I have never caught a still water trout so any tips will do. Thanks

The dam fishing is quite dissapointing, fish the trophy dam that is the only dam worth it! Use a float tube, take a floating and sinking line! Dry fly early mornings and evening, see what is hatching and match tha hatch! Later in the day try dragonfly patterns, baitfish patterns etc. ask the local guides for tips, they know what is going on! I had succes on a red diddy, bloodworm pattern!

If you are keen for yellows (Smallscale, Largescale) keep a eye out for them in the trophy dam! If the river is quite clear, have a go for them, could be quite fun! You can use same nymphs as for Smallmouth just size down your hooks to the smallest you can go! PM me if you want to ask anything else!
