Distance... yes here we go again....

As I said in an earlier post on another thread it's a bit unreasonable to expect sensation to work directly with 1 million anglers, that's why there are tackle shops. Otherwise Sensation would be selling direct to the Angler and not to tackleshops.

If your car gives hassles you don't call BMW Germany or Toyota headoffice in Japan you go to your dearler and they sort it out or get the spares from head office to sort it out.

Seen was Broken Raging Bull tips adn Broken Rocket / Bazooka Deluxe tips (same blank)

the procedure of working through your retailer is standard procedure with Shimano / Daiwa / Penn / sensation etc, etc and if your retailer won't or can't help you go to another in your area that is willing to assist and provide service.

Please understand this is not an attack on any Shop or Shop's personnel or a defence of any Wholesaler, I just want to avert finger pointing and tarnishing suppliers when it's not their fault or responsibility

Hey Gertus, I was told about a Rocket rod thats in the store with a crack and the awaiting feedback from Sensation! It must be your rod bud!!

I hope they sort you out quickly! I'm glad I decided to go with the Black Mamba!

I'm not to sure that Sensation, Diawa and Chimano has the same blank as WAFT as the Waft blanks are Japanese imports and not Chinese?

Japs Chineese ... who cares you can blindfold them with dental floss....

Who said anything about the other brands of Blanks.

Please take note that Daiwa and Shimano are Japanese brands and manufacturers.

You asked me to recommend an affordable choice of rods and I did and now it becomes a bashing of a brand based on 2 Breakages out of 3000+ of those rods are sold in the market with less than a 1% return rate.

I work for neither of these company's but repair many of both of the brands and have seen one of their sponsored anglers break 2 of the rods casting and heard from him that he broke another....it's not a sensation angler.

Fishing rods do break especially subjected to the pressures they experience in extreme fishing and both brands as do Blue Marlin as do Purglas as do Penn rods break.

Enigma, I'm greatfull for your recomodation and I'm not bashing any brands! I went to get the Sensation Rocket as per your suggestion. I was shown the Black Mamba and how it was the only rod that didn't snap the line we tested on the guides. I still took the Rocket and only at the counter saw the broken Rocket and told about 2 other ones that also broke. This made me worry for obvious reasons!

I was also told that Sensation, Diawa and Shimano are Chinese imports?

Because I got a good deal on the Mamba's I took them and it also gave me piece of mind because I was told they had never had any WAFT comebacks at their shop and the blanks were Japanese imports? Sure many brand name rods break at sum stage.

Im very happy with my other Sensation 10ft rods, but they lack distance as do my Carp hunter 12ft rods.

If  I go to a car dealer, Toyota and there's 3 brand new Toyota's with seized engines Im sure as hell not going to buy the same 1? I'd rather go to the dealer next door and get a Volvo if I was told they never had a Volvo that seized a engine.

The Toyota dealer wouldn't have the Toyota with seized engines on the floor for you to see but would leave the seized open for you to see, convincing you the Toyota is better and would tell you they never have comebacks on the Toyota but many on the Open

They'll also tell you toyota is a renowned Japanese company but overlook to tell you that their cars also made right here in Rosslyn Pretoria.

Sales persons can make a huge difference.

As for the guides the test it's very, very true that the better the guide the less it damages the line and the less chance the line will damage the guide hence my recommendation for the use of high quality guides on mid to high end rods.

I had a WAFT snap on me. Posted the pics under "Rods for casting long distance" thread. They told me that they never ever had a rod snap. Which obviously was a big fat lie, as I know of a couple of anglers who had the same problem with their rods from WAFT. That is why I refrain from buying from WA, I'll rather walk a further 10km's to buy somewhere else.

No no fighting. Good healthy debate and we chatted a bit via PM, no good washing other peoples laundry in public.

He didn't make a bad buy, I just didn't agree with his sentiments as a result of 1st hand knowledge i have to the contrary.

Well that's that chapter closed off. Waldo your 2 rods will be ready Friday, got opportunity to ship a heap of blanks with Johan Louwies (he also had a few of the G2's in stock)

Also got access to the dam so bring the reel and a few rigs (&Bom) with and we can go cost a few shots.

Hi Guys.
I have Sensation Rockets and I have never been unhappy with them, I started out slow with the casting and worked my way up. Now I can give 100% power with no worries at all.

All I am looking for now is Reels that will help me get that bit extra...

Doesn't WAFT stand for Western Accessories Fishing Tackle? WA's own brand?

It is their own brand and they import direct, build locally and from time to time have Blue Marlin and sometimes Purglas build them WAFT rods for their shop

I believe the acronym may in the past have referred to Western Accessories Fishing Tackle but Yusuf say's it's not. He says it refers to the noise "Waft" that a rod makes when cast correctly.

The WAFT rods currently in the market are their own brand and imported, wholesaled and retailed by themselves

Best rel for casting the Rockets are the Shimano XTR-RA and the next best would be the XTR and then further down the DL

Make sure to make use of the right line for casting 0.16-0.18mm but if uncomfortable with such light line then go with 0.20-0.22mm

Make sure the reel is 100% full (Too..... is bad, to little and it hits the spool causing friction and too much results in Wind Knots - Bunch of Buggers cast off the spool)

Broke my first ever G2 today. Eish, Waldo was so keen to cast the rod, he had a few sighter casts with the rod and i took the rod and proceeded to wind up and was going to cast it over the Mint dam, didn't even get 30% load into the rod and it snapped clean off about 5cm in front of the reel seat.

Fist one out of 180 that I have built, that broke. Had to have been a blemish in the blank as i took the 2nd one and put a M1 and Bol onto it an did a 135m cast and we eventually threw a few P5 with Bol on it.

Blue Marlin has already committed to replace the Base ASAP. Unfortunately Waldo ended up leaving with a 12 and a 13' for the weekend's fishing and went from a 90m starting cast to a 140m+ departing cast.

Good luck with the fishing at Cilliers

Good for you iggy ..
About a minth Ato i Cast with the rockets and i Heard a Snap.. Looked and SAW nothing ... Contínued to Cast and Heard Another crack.. Toit the tip off and had a look.. The top piece had a lateral crack where it goes in the bottom .. So tooi it to Western accesories..
They die not want to replace immediataly so i had to purchase Another tip.. After Month i go back to ASK what sensation rep SAID.
The girl at the counter SAID she does not think they wil replace it .. Cus in her EXPERIENCe that looked like a crush. And not a Factory fault ..

I am pissed and will never but Another sensation Product again ... I called Zain from sensation still waiting for his call ...

So i hope waft gives u a better service ...

Ok so as i was able to complain so will i post a compliment... i was called today as a follow up to my tip that was broken(NOT DUE TO MY NEGLEGENCE I HAVE WITNESSES WHO SAW ME CAST AND ALSO HEARD THE CRACK) and the lady from Western Accesories said that she will refund me with the full amount i paid for the replacement tip.
Moral of the story .. they (WA) are understanding that clients see pay them for the equipment and expect to get a service if equipment has FACTORY DEFECTS to replace it.
If we dont complain(in a nice way) they will never know they are stocking inferior products and will never stop selling the low quality products to us. Only when we persist to "notify" them will they be foreced to stop putting these items on their shelves by replacing faulty products.
That said there are many customers with uncrupilous morals who after knowing they broke the equipment still go to WA and argue for replacements. This is sad as someone like me have to be denied as I am seen as one of those charecters. This after i know I did not break it by any means other than casting with it.
So my recomendation is that WA establish a CRM system that tracks their equipment and replacements per customer. This way one can detect the frequent replacers from the honest customers.
So well done WA .. you are staging a comeback with service to customers..
Gertus.. !
