Dimalachite Resort and River Lodge

Hello All...

Just a quickie... We went to Dimalachite Resort and River Lodge last weekend and it was terrible!

They greet you as if they are doing you a favour by ripping you off to stay there!

The ablution facilities stink!

There is no space to fish for the Lodge and Chalet visitors... (We were ripped off R885 per night for 2 people in a self catering, shared patio with no privacy) and no space to fish at the water?

The campers crammed against the waters edge like sardines and you need a swiming pool pole and net to try land your fish because you are so high up on the bank!

The kiosk is a total rip-off!

To hire a rubber dingy costs R120 and R150 deposit.

To Jacuzzi for 30min costs R60

Camping costs R200 per night...

Visitors are charged R65 per person per day (and there is no place where they can fish)

The place has nothing to offer in the line of nature and birding...

It's a hole!!!

Thank you... I feel much better now!!!

Regards,

Ok this weekend is the weekend i go to dimichalite. Target species

a) 1 x Big Barbel
b) 1 x Big Carp
c) 1 x Big Yellow.

im guessing crab at night is the best for a yellow. Have not targeted them before so if i can get a crab, put it on the hook rock and surf style it should work right?

Yes it will work and you might even pick up a barbel with it. Try to ad a small peace of floating foam tho.

Howzit, here is my full report..... the fishing was.... well it sucked. out of 10 casts i got stuck solid and broke off 9 times. I tried the whole area where one is allowed to fish but i got stuck solidy each time. The bachelors was great though :). The only fish i saw come out was the guy on the private property where we where not allowed to go. that area seemed much better. One thing that nearly cause a scene they said no music, i can understand speakers blaring etc. We where just having a braai, so i drove my car right up to the braai stand opened my window and put the radio on , just loud enough so those standing around the braai could here it. 15 minuates later some guy comes in with headlights telling me i must put the music off cause im disturing the peace and there are other ppl around!, i was a bit confused but not wanting to make a scene i put it off and brought out my guitar.

Anyways in my opinion definately one venue to give a miss. Lucky for me fishing was not the main reason but i did come prepared in case the fish was there. Watch out for my next report....... JJ

You are not telling the truth, Actually you are lying!!

Me and my family are regular visitors to Dimalachite, and ae were always welcomed and treated with respect by the people attending at reception! Their tariffs are on their website - why did you book there if everything is so "expensive". The lodge that you are talking about is very beatifull, and have a Great view over the river. The cost is R805.00 per day, but you are the allowed 4 people! You wouldn't get this type of accommodation for that price on the Vaal river. Why didn't you book in at Mimosa in Parys - you will be welcomed there, because they are your type (and cheap!!) You say a raft cost R120.00, but you do not say that it is available to you for a whole day! You say the jacuzzi cost R60.00 for 30 min, but you do not say that it is for 4 people! Yes Adults pay R60.00 pp for day visit. I will rather pay more, than to be guest to bus loads of people like you! I cannot trust you, you are NOT a GREAT fisherman, and wouldn't like to be assosiated with somebody like you!:fbash

Me and my family have caught Big Carp, yellows, barbel and mudfish at Dimalachite. We enjoy the camping and facilities there and will be back!!:wfish

Hi Nols

Hi Redrum1,

As iets byt sal dit 'n grote wees. Ons kamp altyd by Kiewiet 4 tot8. Nr 7 is my plek.

Groete,

Great outdoor!!

Great outdoor!

Hi, outdoorsman , i take your associate with myself and notnilc as light harted banter. i have not moaned about costs and yes i am not the best freshwater fisherman, and yes it was for a bachelors, We told them its a bachelors, they said no problem, so if the owners did not want to take our money they should have said no sir, we or our regular customers dont like to have bachelors here, and we would have went elsewhere, anyways there are as you say lots of places to host a bachelors but being the avid fisherman that i am, it was decided to host it next to the water. I am glad you had a great time there, each to his own.
