it's probably diet-if there is a difference, i have caugh alot 'dark' bronzies in SA also, alot of the time it has got to do with the angle of the camera to the angle of the sun
dit is maar gewoonlik die lig n vroeg oggend foto en n namiddag foto sal ook verskillend wees want die lig is nie meer dieselfde nie

Hazard a guess but water temp variations? Possibly the more prevalent clearer water in CT resulting in a lighter color?

In nature the animals usually adapt to their surrounds hence my deductions.. Like I say, just a guess... ;)

Hence my "assumption" as viewed from above they would blend in better with the sea bed being darker..

We know what they say about assumptions.. so don't rip me a new one if this is not the case.. ;)

The bronzies in the SC are also a diferent colour to the CT fish?? it might have something to do with the water colour

i wonder then also where do they go to in winter?

the cape bronzies supposedly all go to warmer waters, towards indian ocean? namibian ones go to angola?

then how long would it take a bronzie to adjust its body color to conditions if SC bronzies are also different color then the cape town ones if they meet up supposedly somewhere in durban?

sorry, it all might sound stupid, but it just doesnt make any sence to me and i couldnt find much info on bronze whaler seasonal migrations on google

I had a good look at my albums from the last 2 years in Namibia and I compared them to the last 2 years in SA
There might be a slight percentage of Bronzies that’s darker to than the rest, that normally due to the area they stay in and maybe because of the food
In Namibia we sometimes catch cob between the kelp and they are much darker (nearly black) than the normal ones
I personally think it comes down to the light when you take a pic , also there will be a huge dif between a early morning pic and a midday or afternoon pic
If you look at your own pics you will see the ones where the shark appear to be darker, well that one has mist and cloud cover in the back ground
On the other one there is very little cloud cover and it’s nearly a clear day
Here are some pics of Bronzies in SA, they are all a bit on the dark site
What’s happening to the Bronzies in Cape Town, are they still there
Haven’t heard of a big one in a few weeks
