Competitive Angling Point Scoring Mechanism

Good Day All - Can somebody please give me the low-down on how points scoring works in both club comps and then for formal comp facets i.e league, national comps?  Some questions that come to mind are:
1. Is the point scoring for club comps and formal comps the same?2. Competition points per grouping i.e. seniors, Ladies, Juniors - does it differ?3. Points allocated for overall ranking within a club after each club comp, how is this scored

Apologies if some of the terms used above are not the spoken angling language, so please do correct me where I have it wrong.

Thanks in advance.

I fish the boland ligga in Struisbaai.
Points for non edible fish 1 point per kg (100kg raggy = 100 points/kg's)
Points for edible fish 1kg = 2 points (10 kg kabeljou = 20 points/kg's) you also get 5 bonus points/kg's for every edible fish released. so if you caught a 10 kg cob and released it you will get 25 points/kg's.
Now it gets interesting.
The ligga winner of the day gets a maximum total of 50 points for the day no matter how many kilo's of fish he caught .50 points for winning the day.
The runners up get points on how there catch total kg's compare to his total of kg's.
Hope this makes sense here is a example:
1st)John smith total kgs for the day 258.99 = 50 points
2nd)james may total kgs for the day 218.90 = 42.26 points
3d)manie muis total kgs for the day 140.44 = 27.11 points

Thanks Fanie, I understand.

How do you determine the weight of edible species that are released? Measure and converter? And how do you determine weight of fish that are kept? With a scale?

What proof must an angler have of fish released to be able to score points?
Is there a minimum size for edible species?

All fish are measured with a tape and converted to kg's edible and non edible no fish gets weighed.
It is within your right to keep a fish but this is frowned on and in the 2 years I have fished I have never seen or heard about a edible fish being kept.(we promote catch and release)
Your fish must be witnessed while measuring and signed off on your scorecard by another angler weather in your club or in a competitors club.
Believe me other anglers take note of what is caught around them and would witness a fish kept or any dodgy actions taken.
At the end of the day if you are cheating then you are in it for the wrong reasons and people do get caught.
Hope this answers a few of your q's

Also have a look at the RASSPL way of doing things and how the scoring system works.

The days of weighing in a catch are becoming less common for clubs and that's exactly the kind of change we need!

Yes I agree fully Foose.
Any ideas for clubs where people don't necessarily fish together/ in pairs? This makes the witness part difficult. Obviously cellphone pics might be an answer, but some older people struggle with phone pics, people don't want to get their phones wet while fishing, and if the viskoors is at a high level and competition is fierce, pics waste time. These are all arguments I have been confronted with.
