I’m pleased to post the decisions taken at last night’s SSEC:WC members meeting.
1. A number of new members attended the meeting. A hearty welcome to them.
2. Logistical arrangements: Cape Point Reserve Competition 26 June 2010:
2.1. Fishing area: Whole of Cape Point Reserve.
2.2. Competition Secretary: ***Galjoen*** (Wikus) has been appointed for this competition.
2.3. Start and end times of competition:
Start: 07:30 – 08:00
End (way-in): 14:30 – 15:00. (No grace after 15:00 and any late submissions will be disqualified).
NOTE: Members who do not make the morning starting time (08:00) will have grace until 09:00 to collect their Score Cards from the Competition Secretary, wherever he might be. Late-comers can contact him on his Cell (083 791 5339) to establish his whereabouts and to collect their Score cards BEFORE 09:00 from him. Please note that he WILL NOT issue Score cards to members who do not meet the final cut-off time of 09:00. Any members who do not meet this grace period shall be disqualified from the competition. They may, however, participate in the day’s fishing on a non-competitive basis and attend the weigh-in event, thus earning 15 points for attending the weigh-in event.
2.4. Venue for issuing Score Cards: At the main gate to the Reserve.
2.5. Return of Score Cards: Buffels Bay braai and picnic area.
2.6. After party: Bring and braai at the Buffels Bay braai and picnic area.
2.7. The Club will sponsor all participating members by paying their Fishing Permits for the day (R30,00)
3. General:
3.1. Winners of May Blouberg/Melkbosstrand competition: First:-Killer Strepie, Second: Hannes101, Third: ***Galjoen***. Congratulations to the winner, Killer Strepie who unfortunately could not attend last night’s meeting.
3.2. Formal communicsations/statements on behalf of the Club: It was decided that no member may issue any statements or respond to any queries or comments on behalf of the Club, or commit the Club in any way. Any queries or comments should be referred to the Chairman (Moby Dick) or the Secretary (Kaspaas) for response.
3.3. Galjoen Clinic – Feedback: The recent Galjoen Clinic was a tremendous success. The raffles held during the event brought in a generous amount to bolster the funds of the Club.
3.4. The June competition will be the last competition for the Club’s current year. All members are urged to renew their annual membership fees as soon as possible. It is unchanged at R150,00 per member. Remember, only paid-up members qualify to compete in the July 2010 competition. Marthin and Seawiid (Treasurer) will place a post providing the Banking details where payments may be deposited.
3.5. Sponsors: Alpha Pro Fishing Specialists has again made a very generous contribution in the form of a Torium 20 reel at greatly discounted price. This reel was reffled at the recent Galjoen Clinic. Club members are urged to support this sponsor whenever they procure fishing tackle. Another company, Coral Wetsuits, have offered 15% discount on all wetsuits purchased from them. Members wishing to make use of this offer should approach Kaspaas for a letter of introduction as proof of membership of SSEC:WC.
Another sponsor, Bennie Jordaan has indicated that he would present the Club with a custom made wooden lure with special inscription made on it as first prize to the Monthly Competition winner.
3.6. Sealine Birthday bash: The annual Sealine Birthday bash will take place during November and will be at the Hole in the Wall again. Western Cape Sealiners are urged to attend this year. A number of SSEC:WC members have already indicated that they are interested. Mobi Dick (Nico) announced that he has accommodation available for 6 to 8 persons. Interested members should contact him in this regard.
3.7. Annual general members meeting. In terms of the Club’s Constitution an AGM has to be held before end July. An announcement in this regard will be made within the near future.
3.8. Inter-Sealine events outside the Club’s area: Although no new developments have been reported, this item will be retained on the agenda for future meetings. Sailfish (Hein) reported that a number of Sealiners from the Mossel Bay area have shown interest in joining the Club in an event at Stilbaai. He will follow it up and refer them to Kaspaas.
3.9. Sealine Stickers: Marthin will place a post in this regard on the SSEC:WC announcements thread. Any members who require Sealine Stickers should contact him.
3.10.End of the year function: The Club’s first annual End of Year and prize giving function will take place on Saturday, 11 September 2010 at the Hunt and Polo Club, Durbanville. Further details in this regard will be posted on Sealine within the near future.
3.11.Beach Cleaning initiative: The Club will embark on this initiative during the warmer months. The details in this regard will be finalised during future Club meetings.
3.12.Sailfish (Hein) generously donated a Shimano Spinning/Dropshot reel that was raffled during last night’s meeting. Half the proceeds will go to the Gauteng raffle as support for that initiative.
3.13.Stilbaai Galjoen Derby: Although several Club members this year are participating as individuals as part of private teams, it was decided that the Club will enter a team representing SSEC:WC next year.
