Not many people Fish with Gw 40's. Why , I do Not Know .
The sl's are available in 30 and 50 size , so too the saltist .
umm , funnily enough - saltiga surf is only available also in .... a 30 size . All too often we are smply taught that bigger is better . I made the same mistake , and hence my new found interest in this 40 sized reel . I'd Love a saltist 40, I would give anything for one .
but , I fished against some seriously'Nice guys this weekend , al with Hectic tackle - the dc's were lying around like pebbles on a beach , but I managed just fine with my sl 30 .Edit

sorry but i just have to rub this in the EC boy's faces - I caught More gurnard than anyone else - so THERE !!!!!!! lololol )
The other nice thing was that If I wanted to mess around on the spinner with my 30- no problem . were it a 40 , I also believe like reefman , that the 40 would be just a little too big for te rod . I have even used my 10 ft Loomis (forgot the model ) and the 30 , it was there that I realized how nicely these rods cast , but I bought it purely because I was looking for something lighter than my normal tackle .
I have a major back problem , and truthfully , my BM and the 50 is beginning to Literally kill me on the beach . Even after saturday , I was in major pain - I could BARELY cast off the beach saturday night at St. Francis . My new combo of lighter tackle , lighter rod , lighter reel , has also doubled up my pleasure when catching something with weight . I am , after this post , able to cast as hard , and if Not further , than I could cast with the 50. both have their place in my rigs ,and it's alwas nice to have something like the 50 , or in your case - that beaut of a torium to fall back on when you need it .
You've just gone full circle now - from the sl , to the grandwave , up to the saltist , which is a beauty , then found the price of the grandwave ... and now ... this leaves you wth ?- the sl 30 of course ....
congratulations . I've done this exercise more times than i can remember .
Buck for buck - Ask reefman- it may not be as tough as a saltist-it isn't , but i reckon It's good value for money sir . Now that i can finally cast with it to actually USE it - I am lovng this little reel to no end . Thanks Reef ..
