Hiya
Sorry for the slow reponse, been out fishing!!

Anycase, Brendon has it correct. The large white stumpnose often caught in FalseBay, have a blue tinge on their head, hence the nick-name Blou-kop.
Bloukop steenjie is a totally different specie and for those that are interested, the area in front of Sunny Cove station, off Jagers Walk in Fish hoek, has PLENTY of them!! Great little fish for the youngsters to catch!!
Big elf or shad are also known as draad-elwe or Blue/Blou elf, once again named after the blue-ish/greenish tinge the large elf/shad has on their back. Baileys Cottage is well known for these large elf/shad, which are quite capable of biting through your thinner diameter steel trace!!
When fishing for blou-koppe (large stumpnose), we use a peice of white foam a couple of centimeters above the hook. I good idea is to put a short shank 2/0 hook INSIDE the float. I've caught numerous blou-koppe on JUST the float!! They grab the white float instead of the bait. Similarly, i've hook and landed large steenbras as well as kob on the float and when landed, the bait is actually untouched..........
