'SAFETY IN NUMBERS' Night Fishing Trial 11/12 Feedback :
Firstly,Thanx to all those that pitched,& thanx for contributions to Car Guard.And to those that couldn't make it,you missed some fun,but there's always next time.
'Numbers' of Anglers Turning up : We had a good turn out of about 25 Anglers in extreme conditions, & not once did anyone feel threatened & in general it worked out well,even though we were angling under testing conditions,with it being a week night,windy,wrong tide,etc.
Car Guard brought a steadying influence to evening,with knowledge that cars, and contents were being monitored.I kept in regular contact with Guard via cell phone & no problems were reported.Except,at 11pm when I collected contributions for Guard, everyone had the same question:
'When can we do this again,hehehe?'
Guys were enjoying themselves so much,they didn't want to leave!I had instructed Guard that we'd probably pack it in at 11,but guys were reluctant to leave & I was forced to leave at 12 to drop Car Guard off with many guys still fishing and my sources tell me that Most stayed until 1pm!
What Fish was caught? Besides many competing to get the biggest Mother of an overwind,hehehe,a lot of Barble & Sharks were caught, including Smooth Hounds, and some smallish Cob.Fish started coming more on the bite at time to leave,when tide started pushing, and Eduardo caught a nice Cob at 11h30pm.
Conditions were not that windy!Still fishable!Even though windy,it wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be,and we could still do some fishing in this night fish experimental trial.Seemed a bit protected where we were fishing,and a warm wind came up later & water warmed up further.
A VERY BIG THANX TO TIM for going out of his way & going the extra mile for us, and organizing & dropping off car Guard,even though he had a crisis & couldn't fish himself.Our thoughts are with him & his loved ones during this crisis & the night wouldn't have suceeded without his input and generosity.I did thank Kasenga for his duties as Car Guard & he seemed happy with the evening & getting some compensation for it.
Night Angling & Conclusions:After last night,anglers seemed confident enough to want to repeat this angling exercise.Considerations like having 2 car guards would make things even safer,etc,& may contribute to repetition of last night on a more regular basis.But we may have to push up fees per person to get it to work,which personally ,I'm comfortable with.Most anglers, last night, referred to wanting to repeat this Night Fishing on a weekly basis,which to me ultimately means that last night went off rather favorably.
