C- kyaks

hi

my buddies and i are thinking of buying a c-kyak.... :kaykak

anyone used a C- kyak with good results? and where would be if purchased a good spot in cape town....

I fished with a guy in Mozambique, who was on a C-kayak, and he battled somewhat with the balance. He said that if he fell off, he would really battle to get back on. The hatches were also too small to take rods, so the had to be tied to the outside of the boat.

My advice.....if you want to paddle, get a plastic. If you want to fish, get a fishing ski, because it's designed for fishing.

You certainly can't be talking about the C-kayak Malachite!  I have one and it is super stable.  You can stand and fish off this boat on flat water.

that is exaclty the one i was lookikng @, u get variety of c-kyaks, what are he price range's ie entry level....

I had a Toucan (double) C-Kayak which was very stable, nice and quick when trawling lures and launching, but lack of hatch space was a distint disadvantage as a fishing boat. It was a good way for me to teach my wife to fish, but we both now have fishing skis.

so u would then agree eith Ian f to rather go and get a fishing skis? i'm not to fimiliar with makes , models and price.?

I agree with Ian F. I personally have a Neptune. My wife has a Stealth, my mates paddle Erics and I believe that there are some other good skis on the market.

Look around see what suits you. Take the boats for a paddle and try them out.

I am sure that you would be able to find some links on the padddle ski section regarding specific boats.

New boats range from about R4500 upwards.

To see both the C-kayak and Fishing ski's I think your best bet is Brians Kakaks. I think he has the agency for c-kayaks and also sells Stealth Ski's. Not too sure if he holds stock on both brands though. You will find the most guys dont hold much stock. The paddle center in Fish Hoek will also be able to show you a ski. IF you looking at buying a ski... give me a shout.

are you looking at New or 2nd hand?  New you looking anything from 5 - 12K on plastic, and about 7K on Fibreglass.   2nd hand ski you looking at 3 - 5K depending on the state and age of the ski.

hey guys, is it worth it having a ski in cape town? which areas are ideal to fish off a ski? im keen but i dont want to make the same mistake as i did with my drop shot outfit, R3000 later and not a single fish, lol. are there any ski "fishing groups" out there? thanks

Go on a kayak with that "wasted" dropshot kit and see what fishing is all about.

Catching from the side and catching from any vessel cannot and should not be compared.
If you have a fishfinder to see the structure under the water you will be into fish in NO TIME.
