Hi,

I'm planning to buy a Nissan Almera for the wifey. It is a 2003 model, silver, 110000km on the clock. Price is R63900.

I will be buying it from a local Honda dealer.

Do you guys think this is a good deal?
Do they give you some kind of guarantee?

they apparently quite good cars, just make sure that it is not a ex car rental car as they prob buy most of them new and then get rid of them after a couple of years!

Personally, i think they pretty ugly!

Almera is a good reliable car. I had one From new (2005), It did blow a head gasket at 120 000km, but was cheap to fix. Otherwise after 200 000km I just replaced it 2 months ago with a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer GLS and the Lancer at 15 000km has more rattles than the Almera had at 200 000km and the Almera is quieter inside than the Lancer.

dont take it to the AA they do a visual test only take it to Nissan and ask them to run through the checks they do on their own used vehicles Thats what i used to do for my customers while i was in the motor industry . They come in with a AA report and ask you to double check and You find various other items faulty.

The majority of times either the speedo is sealed or there will be a sticker from a rental company on the dash , either on the left or right side of the dash thats when the door is open or in the cubby lid

Will a dealer allow me to take the car through a test at another place before selling?
if he does not then he has something to hide i recon, if he is honest about the car then i dont see any reason why not! I have taken a car from a dealer through to a mechanic to give it a once over before buying on 3 occasions!

I recently bought a 1.6 Luxury Almera 2006 60000km for R80000.00 had a few wiring problems due to a hungry rat, but now that its sorted i'm very happy with the car.
