And a lot of dead sharks don't wash out...
I'm going to bet it's toxicological issue, pollution, and I'll throw a rough guess in their that it's UPL related, but considering that a lot of the stuff they produce end up in rivers and the ocean in any case little chance of proving anything.

It is very strange, especially to just be one species...You'd be surprised how many sharks wash out though when they die prematurely inshore, we'd see many sharks and rays washed up in summer after the shark guys have had a few sessions, from mishandling during landing, they'd die later and wash out> Most the shark guys being from out of town, so they never see it a day or three after they left.
But every year we'd see hundreds of bronzies inshore, in the backline, in the rockpools even sometimes catching katonkel when its all dik..They are pretty comfortable right inshore without getting hurt, this must be some pollution event? There was an oil spill last week in PE from bunkering but that was contained as far as I know and these beachings been happening from before that..
I hope autopsies are being done to get to the bottom of this..
