What are recomended spots to fish?Can anyone please advise?:fishnFreakazoid

I am going, Dirk (djswart) and Theo are going this weekend as well. Who else is going?
It seems like the weather is not going to play along guys, but we`ll try.

Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon looks ok, that`s when we will be going to sea.
Eagle, at the beach there`s a shop called "Hoonkers". To the left of the shop there is a nice spot where the rocks begin. Lots of elf there. If you`re looking for steenbras,like your pm said, i would suggest going to the mouth of the river, there a big bend in the river we call "die draai". You can try there too.
Usually i would try for Steenbras higher up near rooi walle or die plaat..i`ve caught some nice one`s there, but with the possibilaty of rain today and tomorrow, fresh water will be comming down the river and i would not waste my time in the fresh water.
Or walk on the sand bank towards the mouth of the river (next to die draai) There`s a channel...lots of elf there too.

Is it just Elf and Steamers at this time of the year??? Out of the mouth??? When is Cracker time up there. Landed a nice one off the rocks around the corner in April a few years back.
Am thinking about going up with the boat, a few mates, a few chops and a beer or two in about two months. Any worthwhile fishing in August up at the Breede and out the mouth?

No, you get Grunter, leervis, elf, steenbras and cob this time of year, although it is much slower than during the summer months. I only mentined elf and Steenbras because Eagle1 said he will be looking for Steenbras in his pm to me.
In august the weather would have HOPEFULLY improved. The problem in winter time is that the sea water tempreture is too low, round about 12 - 14 degrees. We`ve been out and in that cold water we even strugled to get some rooivis. And the river water is too fresh because of all the rain water comming down. Although, about a month ago some guy caugt a 20kg cob very high up, just after the rain in the fresh water. You never know....
I`m not to sure about the craker`s. Maybe FZ or Flippie can help you there. Never caught one.

definately join you in august.Good one Raptor, will keep you posted on the trip...... checked out previous attemps to arrange a gathering by the Cape okes have been met with a very swak response, must think of ways to entice the boys of of their rutts and get out for a jol. Am pretty sure that some decent prizes and some cheap or even sponsored "throat lubrication" will assist in achieving this. Gonna put my thinking cap on before I start mouthing it off about arranging a weekend trip.

Attached pic is of a Kob, just over 20kg's caught at the Municipal Jetty Witsand, 20th of May 2006 on a whole Tjokka slide, incoming tide. It was very cold and it had been raining for the whole week. River was in flood. We had some succes on the pushing tides as sea water pushed against the fresh water. Think like a fish and you will get your fish.

Tks baldrick, yip the wooden one close to the mouth. While u wait for the tide to turn there's lots of fun to be had with light tackle and blacktails - seems they like the colder water. Was down there bout a month ago. Blanked. Okes on the boats got some huge Kob in the sea. Also learnt a valuable lesson - never think u know it all. There was a Pommie Tourist who also wanted to fish. He went to the shop and they sold him one of those yellow Okuma Rod/Coffe Grinder combos with one of those HUGE old style wooden plugs painted red and white. Guess what - he made two casts and got two Leeries... hehehe put this fisherman to shame, and I was standing there thinking to myself now what is he hoping to catch with that??
You are so right. I was there a couple of years ago and was at the Oysterbeds residential area harbour, where my uncle has a house. saw a kid spinning with one of those little rods you get at Pick n Pay. watched him for about 10 mins and he hooked up a leerie as well. Fought it for about 10 mins and landed it safely, and then released it carefully.
Like you say, you never know....
I am looking to get up there again soon. Was planning for this month but business has been too quiet so bucks become scarce.

We were up there this weekend. Theo, myself Raptor and his girl went out on Sunday. We had a species festival. Raptor has the pics, hopefully he'll post.
We got Bronze Bream, Red Roman, Kob, Copper, Dageraad, Black Musselcracker, Yellow Belly Rockcod, baitfish (duh), a Striped Catshark and 3 huge Vaalhaaie.
