Let me throw a different spin on this.................................
Waiting for the perfect weather conditions is like waiting for the perfect women...............it depends on a lot of things and you will have to make sacrifices.
Pick when you want to go and fish...........(Unless there's a gale force wind, or very dramatic drops or rise in the barometer or water temp)
Chat with a couple of old salts on how the weather conditions will affect the water temperature.
Can you catch fish in cold water?..............Yes species like spotted gullies, raggies prefer cooler water
Can you catch fish in warm water?................Yes species like shad, bronze bream blue rays prefer warmer water
So lets complicate it even more, can you catch bronze bream in cold water?.................Yes, if the water has been cold long enough, they climatize and have to start feeding again.
......but generally speaking the water temperature will dictate what species you should target.
Now based on the specie you want to target you will short list a couple of areas that you think is worthwhile.
Now look at the time you want to go and fish and what the tide will be doing.
A pushing tide is definitely preferred, but maybe you can only go and fish early morning and the tide is dropping.
Now pick your spot where you can fish, without running out of water.
But, maybe you want to fish a rocky area that is only accessible on the low tide?
So the tide could also have a big influence on the spot you need to pick
There are no hard and fast rules, it all depends.
So decide when you want to go and fish, and adapt your strategy to see what will give you the best chances of success under those conditions.
Then, if one spot does not produce, walk and find another spot, try again.
Be prepared to walk 4-5km to try and find the fish.
Can you fish in crystal clear water? Of course you can...................just not during daytime or you will catch one klipvis after the other.
If you have very clean water, you'll have much better success fishing at night.
Adapt to whatever conditions you have and you'll be a far more successful fisherman than waiting for the perfect conditions.
I'll end by saying, you can only catch the complete wrong specie in the complete wrong conditions if you, for starters, have a line in the water.
Kindest regards
