Baitcaster advice needed.

I am desperately seeking advice on my next bass reel. Been fishing the same old cheap combo for 5 years. Been spending alot of time down at the coast, and now that im back in Jozi, I need to keep myself occupied.

I would like a reel that could if possible, multitask for bass fishing and be able to handle some salt water tasks. I have been eying out for example the Daiwa Millionaire classic. And what would you guys suggest length wise for a matching rod. I was thinking 7 foot for the bass??

Any advise please.(whats the best compromise, No coffee grinders)

Thanks

This advise is not based on the fact that I'm a complete Quantum Fanatic (bodering on looney) but they brought out a new baitcaster in the PT energy series that has 9 bearings and has the model abreviation of PTS where the S stand for Saltwater, its currently selling at Rod and Marine for R2700, strap that to a 7ft Med-Heavy Rod, BPS range rods, Quantum Tour's, Shimano Cumara, or Tica rod in that length and your set for anything... my opinion, and I'm no pro, these are just the rigs I would invest in as I've busted Sensational Rods, Loomis rods etc.

Abu Garcia Revo STX.

Only baitcaster to pull a sail fish.

25 pound dragg, what more do you need.

They retail at about R2.5k

As for the rod,

Shimano Crucial 7foot 6 inches HEAVY for coastal applications(you can get them for about R900) and a Tica TC4 7foot heavy action (you can get them for about R600) for bass and other spiecies.

Worth every cent!

I dunno but I can get you a TC4 for R560????

Hows that for a awesome price.

They retail for R1.3k at some shops.

And yes, ofcourse did I buy one

Thanx Bigmouth, but alas I can't buy anything now, just bought me a Shimano Cumara for my birthday last month so, I can't buy anything else, not that I don't crave to, but she divorce me before she kills me.......

Thanks for the speedy replies.

Call me a nutter, but I have a thing for round reels. What are your guys thoughts on them as far as bass fishing is concerned. I had a look at the rods you guys mentioned here today. Good choices. Now if only I could find the right reel. R2700, seems a bit steep. Just finished Varsity, so there is a budget ::cavmn

Wouldnt mind spending up to R1500.

Once again, Thanks for replies.

I got the Caiman 100, Beaut of a reel, they don't cast too well unless you've got something heavy, spools are fairly heavy, just watch where you put your fingers, that levelwind pinches like hell. GREAT value for money. Just paid R600 a month or 2 back

Once again, thanks for the replies. Is there any round reels that I would be able to cast light lures with? Would something like the Abu Garcia Ambassadeur C4 Series do well with the bass side?
