I browse alot of articles on dams and where the best spot is, funny enough i dont really see much on baberspan,
I go fishing there as much as i can coz its not so far from mahikeng, even though there are 3 dams around mahikeng i enjoy the camping exp. At the river mouth there is mudfish nd baber, and in the dam there are carp, baber, nd yellows,
You are always going to land a fish there big or small.
I was there 2 weeks ago,it was a tad windy nd rainy but boy did we land them,
We cought many small carp nd yellows, but as the wind picked up, the big carp was in action, my buddy nd i landed in the heavy weather, carp from 2.8 kg to 6.2, not one or two but about10,
After nightfall a changed hooks nd bait, for my favourite BABER angling, i used the same tackle nd line.
For bait i used carp,that i cut up nd tightend to my j hooks, i made sure the derms was also on, at about 9pm i got my fisrt bight, it was a 2 kg, small yes but just so much fun, as the night went on they came in leka , but all aroun 2,2.5kg,
As the night pulled on i was ready to hit the tent i was in for a good fight,
As i was about to take out my last rod the police man went down nd shot up.
Very excited i started reelin in, like a bullet the baber was zippin from the one side to the other, as i got it closer to the bank it shot straight behind my keepnet, so i loosend the dragnd let him go, as soon as i did that the baber shotstraight back agian but not far before i started to bring him inagain, so when i landed it i was surprised, it was my biggest baber yet, 10.98 kilos,
So basically baberspan is under rated but a leka place to spend the weekend
