Sheesh, this looks like so much fun. I'm coming up as far (from Cape Town) as the Bushmans river next month. Will try the Boknes river, Bushmans, Kariega, Kleinemonde, etc. Might even make it to the Fish river. Looking forward to it!

No proper lure fishing but I had a great time Friday night and Sunday night with Shad at Gonubie point.
I was catching them on a T24 spoon after dark under the almost full moon and clear skies. They are just the usual shoal size of 33-40cm FL but on Dropshot tackle and 10lb fireline it was a blast.
I landed 15, lost a few and both nights I left while they were still eating the spoon.
I had to get home to the wife but most impotantly give the guys with bait a chance:spite

Awesome stuff Fluke.must have been good fun on the light tackle :wfish

Hi guys, does anybody know how Kei Mouth is looking at the moment, was there in Desember but the river wasn't fishable, going there next week so hopefully it's cleared up? Do you think it will be worth throwing some rapies and paddle tails in the mouth area for Kob?

Should be reasonably clean at the moment as we haven't had significant rain and the sea has been clean for a few weeks. Normally there are always a few Kob around the river. Try the low tide when the murky water comes down or else if you got a boat see if you can find the murky water.

Thanks Fluke, just looking at our options if the sea is up. We have a little duck, one of our friends also have a small cabin boat, so we are sorted.

Next week may be good, it is the calm after quite a storm they are currently predicting.

I agree with you Fluke. i stayed in Kei mouth for 2 years, my dad stayed their for 11 years and i have fished that river quite a lot.
90% of the year that river is dirty, but i found that you need the dirtier water for Kob.on the low you fish the mouth and follow the dirty water up on the push.

i also found that when it is very clean fishing slows down a bit. it is a weird river cause you can fish that place for three days solid and get nothing and then its alive for two days then dead again.

just before a big storm was the best and the day after.
