An angler caught a 40kg kob in Tugela Mouth using chicken livers as bait.  Does this mean if I use pork ribs or lamb chops to target zambies I can be successful? Amazing.

Chicken livers was prime bait for cob a few years ago , have not seen anybody use it for a long time.On the other hand cob was so plentiful that they ten to one ate anything.Worth trying , make sense for sharks also ! Lets try it and report back.If you spice up a mackie with some chicken liver trying for sharks it must attract something ? Would like some more info on this , waar is die ou manne ?

I know Mickjack (he's an ou man, lol) uses Livers often... it's his favourite bait in the Umfolozi at Mapelane...

i heard of chicken livers used to catch barbels in rivers, but what does one expect to catch on this bait in the sea?

have also heard stories of guys using horse meat to catch big sharks:shock:

Try next time when fishing for cob and you use the tail end of say sardine which does not have a lot of blood or taste in it, combine it with a chicken liver sort of folded into the tail end. It is usually a bit pap to do a long cast with it, so by using it in the protection of the sardine it just helps to add to the attraction.

when im in mozie il try out banannas and will give you feed back! heres a true story,my mate warren hes got a weimerina(thats a german dog for those that dont know) no he takes his dog with him when he goes fishing!on his way to my house on route fishing the dog killed a stray chicken running in the road,so he quickly hid the chicken in the bait box and we decided to try out this chicken!we cut its head off plucked its feathers so it looked like a dead sea gull!and we had a good pull on that chicken but missed it,we used huge hooks from back in the day and missed a shark we presume!

I have caught great tigerfish on chicken liver and Kurper on chicken hearts. Nice and oily and should work a charm in Moz with a bit of peri-peri!:D

I feed my tropical fish(arowanas etc) chicken hearts and they love it - they actually go into a feeding frenzy. I never get the the same response when I feed them fish fillets, squid or shrimp - these fish are known to die of starvation if not fed a food they fancy! Conclusion : chicken hearts would make a hell of a good bait!

During the 1980's I had a lot of success catching west coast steenies on the Namibian coast during my stay of 16 years in Walvis Bay. Chicken livers were very popular amongst the inland clubs during interclubs as they did not always have the time to pump worms. Worms were legal at that time. Mixed with pilchard, cob would also take this bait. Salted livers also produced good results as this stayed longer on the hook when the peckers were around.

Also used chicken livers inside the pilchard my 11 years in Walvis Bay to catch Cob and Steenbras. Some guys also used to use brake fluid on their pilchard.

Guys, that brake fluid idea is just so environmentally unsound. Please don't do it. I am not saying that you are, just requesting that NOBODY does it.
Brake fluid is a vile poisonous substance.
