Need fixed seat with backrest...eyelevel 6 ft

Screw onto the deck

Kosi and Z-Craft has it tapped

Underseat stowage...maybe extra 150l fuel

 

Don't wanna re-invent things...any ideas?

Will buy and transport

I attach a pic from an old post I found (Echo7)

I am starting to think box for the height and sturdiness (and stowage)....two teflon discs... swivelseat with backrest on top of the box...must be able to lock in position with a pin

Footrest needed, so maybe "box" has to be cylindrical shape so the seat can swivel to follow a fish, check the trawl, control the crew ... and  drinks holder for fruitjuice!

Solid seat not the answer

Feeling more and more clever on this Friday

Any further ideas welcome

Sometimes better (and cheaper) to not re-invent the wheel.

1 - buy a box from someone like Z-Craft
2 - Buy a seet from cabelas - approximately R700
3 - Buy a swivel / lock from Cabelas - approximately R200
4 - I'll make you a foot rest.

Bennie you're on the right track, I just had a chat with Thika and he decided that instead of a box, rather build a pillar, he can make a mould with a big drum.
Obviously the fibreglass pillar should be overbuilt to carry his weight plus the strain of fighting a big fish.
So, build a fibreglass pillar (8mm thick?) with flange to bolt on to deck.
Mount swivel mechanism on top of pillar, but use marine ply INSIDE the pillar, under the swivel mech to bolt it properly for extra strength.
Build a footrest onto the seat, then bolt the whole thing to the swivel mech.
I'm currently using this swivel mechanism, I got it from Overton's in the U.S for about R150. It swivels 360 deg & has 12 locking positions operated with the lever.

Hi I had a customer that also use to skip his own boat.If I remember correctly. He had an old wheel chair, fitted on to a swivel mount . With safety seat belts to keep him in place for surf launch ,but also with quick release ,if needed. My 2c

Any kind of belt for a surf launch is bad news, SAMSA will not issue surf launch skippers ticket to disabled people.
But yes an old wheelchair on a swivel mount would work, Thika needs to build something to mount it on.

Think I am getting there!

Must just think it through carefully:

I may just get away with the existing small deck flange and the existing pipe if I use two crossbraces at 90 degrees to starboard side gunwhale

Mount the base,swivelplate and seat with armrests/harness to the existing setup

Just need to sort the heights out, but seems vertical pipe only needs to be 750mm long which is not excessive

I assume the seat and swivelplate together will be about 130mm

My wheelchair foam cushion is 50 mm, so all and all I will have 1700 mm eyelevel above deck

Saw this seat at the boat show

Will beef up the base of the seat and fit my own baseplate assembly

Also 4- point harness

Guy holding it is Craig from Silverlake Marine

Busy with a serious contraption...castor at the bottom  and twin pipes against the gunwhale...will allow movement from helm to stern as well as swivel on the axis..everything lockable with springloaded pins in various places/positions

Will even  have a shock absorber in the downpipe
