Alvey Reels in South Africa

I think the entire Alvey business has shut down. Maybe try gumtree? I used to have one, they just tend to wind up the line if you don't use a few swivels and yes hardly any maintenance. Why not get a KP and learn that sweep cast 
Years ago I saw a guy walking down the beach in KZN throwing a small spoon with a KP, walk cast, walk cast and he sent it a mile, serious skill and he had no over winds.

Just thought the Alvey would be a fun addition and casting with it should be way easier than the KP. Maybe I should just practice a bit more with the KP.
Why would the Alvey be prone to line twist?
Just out of interest I emailed Glenn Alvey in Aus and he told me that Scott Russel in Fish Hoek still stock the reels.

It twists the line because you cast it off like a grinder then wind it in like a multiplier. It can be prevented with swivels though. Scott Russel in Fishoek, I have never heard of him or such a shop. It was maybe the previous owner of the sport shop, if yes then it is now called Great White Sports

Very nearly went under a few years ago but was saved by
media attention --> renewed sales --> finance deals.. they might’ve been bought out too.. but going strong today
Amazing robust reels with a large range available. And not very expensive. Take a bit of practice to master.

I'm still flipping a coin whether to get one or not.
There prices range from about R1600 to R3500, with the models I'm looking at probably around R2200, with braid backing and topshot it's going to be around R2800 +. so lets just say for a basic reel they are not that cheap as can be expected with and Aus import.
If I was still fishing league I would get one, one thing comes up everywhere and that's they are reliable and take salt water, something grinders don't do well imo. So for surf fishing it seems ideal.
Sidecast KP is essentials the same but the ones you get are a bit small capacity wise for my liking and the spools aren't really made for long casts.
