Afternoon,
I've just joined the forum and thought I would add a few stories and pictures from our neck of the woods seeing that there are a lot of SA boys and girls over here. We live and operate in Oman and UAE with a few trips down to Southern Oman, Seychelles and Maldives. We have some awesome fishing in and around UAE and Oman depending on the season which is unfortunately ending in a few weeks due to the heat.
But the good part is at the end of the season now we get some big GTs, which have been giving us a bit of a hiding. My old man was out here and we fished a few days last week and caught some awesome fish. A few of the guides are from SA and also a couple of the mates on the trip so a few beers were drunk, steaks cooked and stories told, almost felt like I was back at Mapelane!
My dad comes out every year and fishes for a few days and somehow always ends up busting a big fish. In 2007 he got a 42kg GT, 2008 46kg GT and this year the fish was around 36kg.
We were mainly fishing with heavy popping gear, but we also managed to catch some awesome fish on dropshot. I got a nice Mirror Fish and a few GTs and other trevally. We have started to use Riptide plastics and they are going off the hook!
