Small Kob caught in Durban, just North of the Umgeni mouth between Blue Lagoon and Beechwood. Conditions were BAD - rough seas and heavy winds, water was very sandy. Bait used was mussels picked up on the beach. Caught around 14:00, just before high tide, early November. Was a surprise to catch this fish in daylight hours. Released to fight another day

Going to try Stillbaai Sat and then see what happens Sun, maybe Witsand. Haven't targetted kob from the surf Since early Jan. Caught a nice 103cm kob last weekend in a lagoon though while spinning for elf with a small S bend spoon. 10am in the morning... Was very surprised! Great fight on a 1/4oz to 1/2oz bass rod and braid.

Just to report back, had an great weekend in Stilbaai, best fish for me was a 94cm kobbie. Got a few smaller ones as well as a few shad and smoothhounds.
Fished through the night on Friday and Saturday.
Great weekend weather wise for fishing the surf.
