Aiiiee yes please! Out the box thinking is what fishing is ALL about! What works for me, may not work for you... and vice versa - anyone who thinks they know it all has got a nasty surprise coming.... they've lost the plot.

A great example of this was my recent trip to Mapelane... when all the locals saw my GP numberplate, you could see them smirking under their breath. No-one would help us or give us any decent info... But as it turned out, wherever we went, we were the ONLY ones who caught!! That really peed the locals from Richards Bay off!! ... and gave my 2 young sons a smile from here to Vidal and back!

Experimentation, trial and error, imagination (and a lot of patience) - that's what makes a good fisherman!

Just kidding Hey Reefs i bet those R Bay guy's never knew where to put their face huh!!!!!You know what though if you really think about it some how i don't blame them boet. From experience alot of GP guy's and please dont get e wrong it happens to the best of us ut they come down and then dont pay any respect to the regulations and simple rules like follow your line etc etc ,so that is probably why they class you before they even knew you..

Sad but hey you just have to live with it guy..We all do......

howzit riymos!

ive noticed you fish in the harbour of a boat, do you take passengers? or is it for private use only?

i ask only because ive never been on a boat, i will pay if you do take passengers.

since it would be my first time on a boat i think fishing in the harbour will be easier on my stomach.

i would really appreciate it coz judging from your posts i know i can learn stacks from you

OK here's something thats gonna help.... Use the sinker in the pic below! It's amazing, but the plastic extensions actually hold the sinker up off the rock, making it difficult for the sinker to actually become stuck in a crack/crevice... You're still going to lose the odd bit of tackle, but it's going to improve it drastically. And, when the sinker does become stuck, it usually catches by one of the plastic arms... all you do is pull hard, the plastic arm bends, and then you reel in quickly... When using these plastic grapnel sinkers on rocks, you gotta retrieve quickly, otherwise you're asking for shtogh.

Use it, don't use it.
Just something to add that works for me. Put that sinker in a bench vice and pinch it hard(or just use a hammer) and flatten the two opposing sides. So when you do retrieve it fast it acts something like a chisel nose plug and lifts up through the water decreasing your chances of getting snag on the next rock.

The real shortcut to learn about angling is to join one of the top competative clubs in your area.

Everybody might not want to teach you everything, but they all will teach you something and before you know you would have learnt more about angling than you can believe!

Then also, nobody can stop you stealing with your eyes!::H
