took out a roman this afternoon to defrost for supper.when i took the plastic of it was covered with funny brownish/greenish spots. wife said it looks like frostbite because i didnt seal the bag off properly. i want to know if i can still eat the fish.must i throuw it away.and how must i go from now on to prepare it.dont want to waste the fish because of my own stupidity.any advise greatfully accepted.

Sounds like freezer burn, if there was a hole in the packet or the bag opening was left open then it will get freezer burn.

It still depends on how old the fish is and how well it was cleaned, how long it was left in the elements before it was frozen.

If it look suspect keep it for bait. I've frozen crayfish before that I've eaten after 5 months and people say I'm mad, but I know how I cleaned and prepared it before freezing.

Now I take a permanent marker and date & classify all the food I freeze, sounds anal but people forget and nobody wants to waste.

went and fillet it and peeled the skin of.looks like the colour is only started to appear on the skin. the rest of the meat underneath looks still ok.no marks.no funny smells either.will give it a bash. if it doesnt taste right i will throw it away.fish is about 2 months old.totaly forgot about it.like the idea if you marking the packets.thanks
