Hey to all on the forum.

I am probably going to ripper to shreds on this thread but here goes.

I like boating and i like boats i currently own a supra wakeboard boat and its fun but boring at times. i came down to my house on the south coast and ended up watching the boats at shelly ski boat club.

I then went and bought the latest skiboat mag.

then my eyes were drawn to the new Ace Glider 750 wowza.

I want it bad

I know you are all going to tell me as a first boat it is crazy, i think i have gone to see twice in my life. i know i should go get a seacat 465 or something like that.

Please give me thoughts on this boat any thoughts at all.

i need to know what i need to tow it with can a surf launch it easily. is it a decent boat what other boats in that size are out there.

please any info at all

much appreciated guys

That boat is big and very heavy. You will need a proper tow vehicle with big winch. F250 style vehicle. 12000 lb winch properly mounted. Big crew to turn her in the surf (5 guys). The heavyGliders also require big pricey motors for surf launching. Once you get past all that, nice rig.

Probably one of the best finished boats around.

Howzit Dusky,

Bigger is better when it comes to offshore boats

(If you can afford the boat, the fuel and the tow vehicle, that is)

Storage becomes an issue

You will need a Landcruiser Wagon, Range Rover, Discovery, Ford F250 or something like that

It will take many strong men, together, to turn that boat on the beach

If you have a special trailer and can access a tractor, much better, but if you are going to keep the boat in Gauteng, you won't have that

You need more crew than a smaller boat

Even if you have the loot, rather start with a smaller boat

Bud, seriously, start with a more manageable boat upto 21' 21' is good enough to go 40 miles offshore, tow with your current vehicle and work the beach with minimal crew.

Even a 19 or 20' is a better choice. When you battle, it becomes unpleasant.

Completely agree, rather start slightly smaller. A 21' boat is by no means a small boat - it will get you everywhere you want to go with less hassle factor. Perhaps look at the 22' Nova Sportfisher - a good, stylish and beautifully finished boat!

BUT,

If you can launch out Durban Harbour, then OK

Get someone to skipper it for you in the beginning

Thing with surflaunching:

1) You need balls

2) You need experience

3) Big boats run in a straight line

4) Eventually your timing WILL be out

5) Look at all the superstructure you can break off that boat !

you guys are breaking my heart but making pertanent comments, do you really believe it will be a mission with the 750.

someone told me she handle surf launching amazingly

Sure, she handles the surf. The trick is to get her down there and get her floating. Shelly is a crap launch. A 24' boat is big already but this one is heavy too! Have you seen how the big boats launch there? They push the boat in forward with tractors. Take a look at the trailers they use. They make it look easy. We have had to use 2x 4x4' s to get a boat out of there when the beach was washed away.

Thats a huge boat, probably will weigh 4-4.5tons fully rigged on trailer. Beach launching will be a mission at Shelly unless you have a 4x4 truck and a reversable trailer plus a good crew.
Personally I do not like the Ace Glider its a very very heavy boat that will need very big motors like 2 x 225's for surf launching, and that front peice is a bucket in the surf.
I took a 530 for a test a while back and it struggled to plane on 2 x Honda 90's thats how heavy the little one was, it was also very front heavy which will lead to broaching in big seas. I would not like to launch one of them.
The design looks good and the finishes are good.

Dusty ,

The 750 is very well built and finished , it is a little weird looking with the bow seats. Unless you do not use it for Charters / Launch from Harbours more than 4 times a month it will become a white elephant , that boat fully rigged will be between ZAR 1-1.2mil.

Surflaunching these type of boats is real Chuck Norris stuff

You will have just as much fun with a 21ft Tomcat/Z-craft /Yeld in my opinion.

"I am probably going to ripper to shreds on this thread but here goes."

That boat will work well on the Vaal

Makes a BIG wake at 2500 RPM

Like Bennie says, nice, once in the water, but so is the Symphony

Good for Moz fishing if you can float it off the beach, once you got it there

I don't like the way they stole the name "ACE" and "GLYDER"

The main man there did his apprenticeship at Ace Craft

Dunes!

The guys are right. IMO once you go over 21' with a boat that you want to be mobile, towing it around, surf work etc you are severely limiting its use and flexibility. I'd think twice about launching that sort of boat from a site like Shelly Beach on any but the calmest day. It would be better on a mooring in a harbour. If you are looking at a boat like that then you can probably afford to buy a boat to learn on and then trade up once you have "earned your stripes." There are also boats I'd rather be in if the *** hit the fan out at sea.

My boat is a 21' boat. Admittedly one of the "big" 21'ers and very heavy. Can become a mission if the sea is up and I only just get by with a Discovery.

Launching in Sodwana - Many hands make light work.

hey man that is such an awesome boat, i love your pics

ya will think twice before putting the range in the sea. hahaha

i am starting to think to downgrade my thoughts, but hey i am a proper sandton vaalie BEEGER is BETTER. then i come down use it once because it scares the poop out of me to surf launch, i then got on the fact of buying a house down the coast like arniston etc. my wife loves the idea cause i snuck it around her by saying lets get a awesome house down the east coast that you can decorate etc little does she know that the house is being bought for the slip ways for my maybe new ace glider 750.

jeez i actually am a pillack
