A friend of mine went fishing at Olifantsnek dam on the weekend, they were 3 guys the friday night having their wives and kids join them on sat. At about 1 am being still awake around the fire fishing one of them heard a sound from their tents direction, ignoring it at first, when he heard it again he got up to investigate and heard somebody running away from the tent area he then shouted, and by the time he got his torch the person was gone. They had opened the bakkies tailgate stole camping chairs and other stuff from under the sail. They also cut the tent open at the back and were in the process of pulling out a sleeping bag when they were disturbed. Apparently this has been the fourth incident in 6 weeks.

This just makes me angry. These days it's hard to get a fire arm and if you have one you first have to half dead to fire "only fire when fired apon". I have a pallet rifle but only 1 shot at a time, I am getting myself a Gamo PT-80 8 shot and with first making sure the poepol doesn't have the real thing I am going to make him feel pain. I also think that it's good when the poepol is running away still insight.

get paint ball guns (big stong one's) load them with rubber bullets and some pepper bullets. wait for te buggers and shoot then sti##T. (obviously they dont have guns if they run when someone shouts) some of those paint ball guns even sound deadly.

but claymore's , land mines, torets ,snares should do the trick. lol

Someone told me that that marbles work very well too. For me the paint ball gun is bulky and everyone will notice it and I like the lement of surprise.

Hi all, i had asked the guy at the gate about safety and he said its a group of youngsters in the area, hungry and desprate...:fbashto get hurt...i was there on Friday afternoon,just scouting out the dam, spoke to one dude who seemed to be a regular there. Told be about the club and its pricing.

Only issue is the Ablution Facilities or the lack thereof. Other than that I have a TAN coloured PITBULL with a PINK NOSE and YELLOW eyes and Clipped ears...GOODNIGHT ALL...

my budie has a compound bou he takes along every time we gou fishing i would like to see them scewerd! Ha ha with ali arows and muzzy braud heads.

  Were your buddies camping at the angling club or residential area?

No incidents of this kind was raised by our residents meeting last night. Perhaps they are not aware of the incidents but I will inform the board members.

The residents association could ask the guy at the gate, however myself as a fisherman, i wouldnt drive to the police station to report that my sleeping bag was stolen at night whilst i was sitting next to the fire. Plus How FAR is the POLICE STATION from the DAM...

Yes, we need to be a little more careful about our safety, but it is also a vast area to be covered..who knows what lurks in the bush at night!^^..

The normal entrance near the petrol station, they spoke to another angler and it was confirmed by the gate watch.
