Hey There Guy's

I just thought id share this with you all. These pics are of a lesser sand shark which we fond laying dead in a pool of filthy water on the pier.Whilest leaving the pier we came accross this disturbing scene. It just goes to show the brains or lack there of, of our anglers today.

What would it have taken to just let the little thing go?These are some of the facts we have to look at when we look at why bans and restrictions are placed on us the fisherman.

This sandy is so beutiful why would anyone want to just kill it?

Anyway it was a really sad end to a lekker little session at the old Grave Yard..

Till Next Time ....

Cheers Riymos..

Hi Riymos

I think this photo together with some comments from the members should be submitted the the new magazine "the Angler"

We to really publish this because I am sure the culprit visits the tackle shops and I would give a Million bucks to see his face when he sees it on the front cover of the newspaper.

So Admin..if you got con tacks with the editor of that newspaper can we please get this published.

^^..Jace

Howzit Jace

I think that is brilliant at least that will get the message around that there is someone watching and hopefully the guy's will think twice about doing the same.IT will instill fear in their minds.

Cheers Riymos

This is simply not acceptable, attitudes have to change, hopefully next time we could get a photo of the culprits in action. If they dont have a brain, Im sure they wouldnt mind the free negative publicity they would receive on Sealine...

I would encourage anyone to take & email pics like this, to ADMIN showing unnecessary, inhumane discarding of life if they dont wish to post it themselves, this can be brought to everyones attention so next time the culprits might think twice before they discard fish like rubbish.

You guys are very well meaning, but ultimately it will be of no use....for one, very simple reason-

The A*****S who do this do not care a stuff about the ocean, or the fish they catch. They certainly don't have a conscience, and when they see their fish on a newspaper cover, they will feel NOTHING.

All this will achieve is that other, more conservation conscious people like the members of this forum will feel that they have done something about this, but you will be preaching to the converted. What this situation needs is direct action-CONFRONT the miscreant IMMEDICATELY on the spot and point out to him the error of his ways. If he does not care, pick the fish up and return it to the water. Do not wait until the fish is dead. Once the fish is dead, you have acted too late.

If we can name and shame our transgressors, this will have more impact than a picture in the front of an angling paper that these a++++s probably never read, anyway. I'm telling you, these guys just don't give a hoot.

Ultimately there is nothing you can do to someone who catches & discards fish, it is basically theirs to keep,  unless caught by the law (if it not legal size etc.)

This is where the bag limit and size rule falls flat ( as this ' really 'only applies to the guys leaving the scene), eg if people catch undersize black tail.. what prevents people from filleting it immediately and using as bait,, and if people reach their  bag limit whats there to prevent people from throwing the smaller , yet still legal, dead ones back to replace it with the bigger ones caught .....whose to stop them ????

At least we get a glimpse of what goes on  the shore... What goes on deep sea will always be a mystery as this can never be properly controlled. Its up to the individual to the right thing, only education can help alleviate some of these problems.

Unfortunately, we get people who dont abide by nothing , take another scenario : recreation department provide bins,, but people will still litter because they couldn't be bothered  to walk 10metres and when the car moves off you will see a nice well demarcated area strewn with litter on either side of the doors

This is not a matter of preaching to the converted.  Its about  telling it like it is.  Hopefully in future, i think Riymos put a post about a TIP OFF line in Australia, maybe one day when the PARKS BOARD has one , or maybe it has already, Im not sure or even a free SMS line ( that might be an idea)..and we get the prospect of fines  & permits being suspended or banned for life, then things will change for the better, even in a moderate way....
