howsit it depends where you are fishing and when.
i often catch in the warmer months and catching cob for me is always better at night but there is always a chance at night. they will take pretty much any bait in that is native to the area but what usually works best for me is using a live mullet or small fish.

I am experiencing the same feeling boet . . . . . caught my last cob 4 months ago in the winter!!! Went to the fridge this morning . . . . . BLANKED AGAIN !!!!!! :cry1:cry1:cry1

@ steven p, you are still lucky as you have caught a fish already. i started fishing about a year ago and have only caught a pajama shark.....so ja, 1 "fish" in a year now imagine my frustration but i know my time will come and will not give up.

you right here on bait presentation, but i would not use a hook under a 5/0, i will go up to as big as a 9/0! they have big mouths!!

i would stick with using max 3/0 when using prawn or bloodworm.
when doing so u have a chance of getting a nice BRAS as well. 5/0 up to 9/0 would illeminate this option.....
